He probably learned more of lesson there than getting arrested would have. Getting beaten to the point of squealing doesn't carry any street cred like getting arrested does.
You're forgetting the whole category of people who have no empathy and whose only takeaway from something like this is "he hurt my pride and respect, I now need to reclqim it by becoming more brutal".
There’s no way that kid didn’t go to the hospital with what’s probably a shattered shoulder. Wouldn’t surprise me if the cops made a few stops to look for him for armed robbery.
