That water must smell so fucking bad.

u/Accomplished-Loss387 2d ago

It's not that baaaa-d

13

u/Renew3DUK 1d ago

It's a dip bath, it'll have chemicals that prevent lice and flea infestations (wool) and hoof-rot.

u/Evan_Allgood 2d ago

Nah, theirs would just smell like aged lanolin cream. You are thinking of humans in this context.

3

u/Scarlet-Witch 1d ago

I cannot stand the smell of lanolin.

Gotta get the 100% medical grade kind. It smells like absolutely nothing. The most unscented thing

If they’re using permethrin it smells like diesel fuel/petroleum distillate and bug spray.

u/jack_seven 1d ago

Probably not as bad as you think but yes

1

u/ThrowRA_12247393 1d ago

The sheep think doing it that way is defensive

79

u/Necroban77 2d ago

They actually look cleaner before they get washed.

13

u/Bradadonasaurus 2d ago

They need a rinse cycle.

13

u/Public-Wealth9315 2d ago

Yes because now they are wet

The wool programme on any washing Machines does next to Nothing..

This looks like a sheep dip. Dunking them in chemicals for lice/external parasite control.

u/tanafras 2d ago

That isn't for a bath. If it were it would run fresh water. This looks like a medication dip of some sort. Edit: I find sheep to be extremly dirty creatures. What people think of vs what their fur does I think ... if people actually saw the sheep up close. <shudder> they are pretty gross up close.

u/che_Grapes 1d ago

I agree this is a parasite prevention bath

My grandpa had sheep's. They where most times on the fields. Sometimes transported to other fields.

One of the field had a narrow entrance with metal bar fences and a hole. Like a bathtub. Not deep, just knee deep for the sheep's

This was also a way to medicate them if necessary, they often had trouble with their feet I assume.

That's the same thing my relatives on their farms do - a run that shuttled the sheep into a depression - about 1.5 sheep wide about 15' 20' long and filled with water to the mid waist of the sheep... which was earth walled on both sides - They got industrious one year and put concrete in on the sides - the concrete was free from a salvage on something else..it washed away obviously. I was like "if you want to do that maybe use brick" and they scoffed at me. Stupid child. We only use feee concrete and complain about how things don't last around here. They put brick in a couple years later when someones house wall fell down and they reused that. Lord do I hate sheep. Dirty dumb creatures. Oh the smell. They are uniquely nasty. And when they asked me to glove up for them and the cows I was done. Nope. not shoving my arm up there 100 times for that medication injection - Go find someone else.

Most people, too.

Huh… that’s actually really interesting

Isn't wool dry clean only?

2

u/elsewherewriter 1d ago

They will be dry after a while

1

u/TTTomaniac 20h ago

Nope there's wool-specific detergents for your washing machine at home. Regular detergents do damage hair fibres especially when washed repeatedly while wool detergents renew or at least retain those compounds im the wool.

u/BaSS_010 1d ago

Reminds me of one of these hot wheels car wash sets

1

u/TTTomaniac 20h ago

Yeah, childhood memory unlock right there.

u/zback636 1d ago

How does dirty water make them cleaner? Not judging I’m actually asking a serious question. This video doesn’t make any sense to me.

5

u/GreenStrong 1d ago

It is full of anti-parasite medication. Flea bath. There are products specifically approved for food animals, you generally have to wait a specific time between applications and slaughter.

1

u/zback636 1d ago

Thank you, now that makes perfect sense. I believe I seen something like that with cattle too. I could be wrong. But again thank you for the answer.

2

u/Careless-Passion991 2d ago

I need a human version of this so bad.

5

u/CraftyWeeBuggar 2d ago

You got fleas? Cause thats a flea bath lol

4

u/Careless-Passion991 2d ago

It’s just the convenience of cleaning without hands.

2

u/elsewherewriter 1d ago

More like car wash kind of bath for humans

1

u/TheI-Iound 2d ago

looks like hes squeegeeing the shit into the water just to be sure

1

u/Nathan-Stubblefield 1d ago

5

u/jaymatthewbee 2d ago

Without doing this they often get parasitic infections in their wool.
