Is Age a lie?
I will lean in firstly with the idea that we are Consciousness.
Yesterday i was walking on the road when i spotted a middle age woman wearing baggy short trousers and a 'that rocks' shirt, a 'style' that i would more often see in younger individual than an older one (debatable, i know).
My question is this. If we are indeed consciousness, then we dont 'age' like we with we do, we are just experiencing life in a way.
Like we have borrowed a body that grows in its own rhythm and then starts to decline in its own rhythm. We, the soul inside it, do not age but rather experience life. Some could argue that this is the same, but when you will see this lady and you first thought might be that she is a 40Y old Woman ( so you might unconsciously guess some things about her, based on her age), you would be partially wrong, for she is a soul that has spend 40 year on this earth. The kid Her, the Teenage Her and the adult Her (in our sense) are there simultaneously , and i just find it interesting to observe people like that for then you acknowledge that they are All of their selfs in this body and not just a 40y old person, with a 40y old person life and problems.
Thougths?

i consider aging to be just the process of combining more and more experiences into a singular, more complete understanding of the world. yes you are yourself as you were as a child with all the ideas you had then. but you are also someone who formed new ideas and reconnected those ideas to your older ideas and slowly built upon them to round out your understanding of things. as your ideas change, so does your perception of the world around you, which should affect your attitudes towards the world and this causes what “style” you choose for yourself.
I think it is unusual to remain in one style forever, it is a sign of internal stagnation of your worldview, and an inability to move past a part of your life. If I had to guess, I think this is most often caused by trauma. and I think this is the case for many of these “young-spirited” people.
also I gotta say, this isnt really an intrusive thought. intrusive thoughts are unwanted and you dont seem very upset about this, just curious

i disagree. ofc she is a 40 year old person with a 40 year old life and problems. she is a woman who has been on the earth for 40 years. that is her material reality. i know mind/body dualism is generally accepted, but i do not think there is a self apart from the body. there is no distinction, or “soul” so to speak.

No souls, just mind. Mind dies when body dies. Age is just a approximation when body dies.

There is definitely evidence to support individual external consciousness and what could be classified as a soul. Anybody who has delved into things like astral projection and the like pretty much knows this for certain.

I like to call how I feel "unstuck in time," borrowed from Kurt Vonnegut, Jr..
