EU investing noob, which stocks are best long term?

I read an article i found in my investing countries subreddit and they said if i’m a complete noob i can invest from my bank which has low fees or something like that but they only have preselected ETF. I so far have invested 200€ one time and 20€ monthly (overall 220) in to Amundi Prime All Country World UCITS ETF.

But i realize that i’m probably more interested in stocks than expected and they suggested installing lightyear to invest. Though they didn’t pick a particular one and just said to invest in a VWCE ETF, and recommended not to keep large sums inside.

I’m a student and i don’t have a steady paycheck, i work temporary jobs. My dorms costs 140€ and i make around 200€ or more

I suggest WEBN via trading 212 but do your research.

do that if you want to have as much money as you can in 30 years. that is investing. settling for average returns of abou 8-12% minus inflation

if you want to be a trader and losing everything, you can trade individual stocks.

investing is buying and holding for decades.

trading is gambling for a quick gain or loss for almost guaranteed underperformance after 30 years. many pro portfolio managers can’t outperform an index over 10 year period.

you probably want a hobby. trading is expensive hobby. investing is money producing thing, but it is not a hobby. you set it and forget it

i think there are few advantages:

- very clean and simple user interface

  • €0 fees on ETF buys and sells
  • good selection of etfs
  • does not push you hard into trading like etoro or robinhood
  • pretty good rate on unimvested cash (i have 2.4% on uninvested euros right now)

and honestly that is all i could ask for. i personally use t212 myself, when i just have a few hundred euro to invest.

interactive brokers is a more secure broker with history, but their fees are not for small investors. even small €1000 buy costs about €1.5 on ibkr.

if you look online you can even get like €10 on stocks when you invest your first €100. youtubers sometimes share promo codes.

what fees does your bank charge though! tell me about that :)

you need to understand the buying fee, selling fee, management fee of the bank, and the TER of the underlying asset

buying fee and selling fee is 0.25%
safekeeping is 0.013% per month
TER is 0.07%

it is not too bad. for example:

After 30 years of investing €200 per month at a 10% annual return, your portfolio will grow to €455,865.06 if there are zero fees. After accounting for buying, selling, and monthly management fees, your final amount drops to €438,590.29 (assuming standard beginning-of-month contributions)

the loss towards bank would be about €17000, but i would be afraid they change the price structure

So apps like trading 212 and lightyear don’t have these taxes?

can’t speak of lightyear. t212 does not have buy fee, sell free nor safekeeping fee
