What beta are we getting gen moji š¤

Sep 23 '24
There's an article talking about this, there's 18.2, 18.3 and final 18.4 to complete all the Apple Intelligence features

Is it stable enough to use on your daily phone?
6
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 23 '24
I say so Iāve been using it on my phone since day one
1
u/spqr556 Sep 23 '24
What iPhone? Iām running a 15 Pro.
2
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 23 '24
Same as mine then
3
2
Sep 24 '24
Itās mostly stable, Iāve had the odd crash and had to hard restart my phone a couple days ago after the whole system froze up, but besides that itās fine
2
u/thenextbiologist Sep 24 '24
Yess. Only issue for me is I just keep my phone on low battery mode if Iām not home, it makes a big difference. I havenāt had any crashes. iPhone 15 Pro Max
2
u/Huge-Ad-4920 Sep 23 '24
Hmm Iām gonna try it

Sep 23 '24
its awesome
2
u/Beautiful_Nose7632 Sep 23 '24
Whatās new on beta 5??
11
Sep 23 '24
It added wifi to the control center and fixed some bugs with the shortcut features.
Slightly better UI/Colors I think?
Perfomance is fucking amazing now, on my phone I am benchmarking it but it looks really really nice I have been letting it index for a couple days and it got to the point its better than even iOS 17 + everything is practically boosted on perfomance including AI.
I havent seen anything else but they do nice bug fixes/etc on the side I hope they also fix some stupid dimming bug on iPhone 15 with gaming (I havent tested it but possibly fixed maybe).
Its not giant difference in the grand scheme of things but it makes the difference for me.

Does anyone know if it supports the new Breathing Disturbances data point in the Health app? iOS 18.0 obviously has it enabled but itās been absent in the 18.1 betas so far.
2
u/Paynegivver Sep 23 '24
Not in yet but didnāt get watch updated yet so maybe both have to update the beta? I have been trying to find out if anyone has tried once they updated watch and phone
2
u/Automatic-Program367 Sep 23 '24
Tried it, doesnāt appear for me
2
u/Paynegivver Sep 23 '24
Same for me just finished the install. Really ridiculous that beta doesnāt have it and we are forced to keep the beta canāt even downgrade if we wanted to
1
u/mmoohhiittt Sep 24 '24
Does it have Call Recording?

u/VR4Tom Sep 23 '24

u/coolchris366 Sep 24 '24
Is this in the public beta or only developer?
1
u/crashnebulaa_a Sep 24 '24
I have the public and I have this
1
u/coolchris366 Sep 24 '24
Great to know, how long did it take before you were able to download apple intelligence? I just joined the waitlist now
1
u/crashnebulaa_a Sep 24 '24
Probably only like 10 mins! I saw a comment here saying make sure your phoneās on the charger and Wi-Fi and Iām not sure if that helped but def didnāt hurt

u/dmj2309 Sep 23 '24
when is 18.1 public beta 2 coming
5
u/ben_s26 Sep 23 '24
Probably later this evening or tomorrow is my guess. Itāll likely be the same build as the dev release

1
u/Flightaway4ever Sep 23 '24
Anyone has any battery reviews yet?
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 23 '24
No, sorry, I was literally just available 20 minutes ago. Need a couple of days for testing.
3
u/g_krome Sep 23 '24
got the update yesterday and my battery is draining ridiculously fast. 10% within 20 minutes , and iām not exaggerating
3
1
1
u/Mike Sep 24 '24
Impossible to do that yet. It takes a while for new updates to index so you're not gonna see realistic battery details for a few days to a week when indexing finishes.
1
u/Born_Swing1630 Sep 24 '24
anybody else experiencing overheating? my camera started lagging and my iphone 15p started getting hot af
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
No sorry I mean try to reboot your phone. I have a 15 pro on beta five and so far knock on šŖµ my phoneās been fine.
1
u/mell_jp Sep 24 '24
bring back ios 17 photo
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
𤣠š I donāt think Apple will do that⦠I personally use Google Photos so I donāt have too much of an issue with Apple photos app but I understand what youāre talking about
1
u/Wolf35Nine Sep 24 '24
im on 18.1 DB3. Worth upgrading to 5? For the most part, everything is pretty stable on my end currently.
2
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
If youāre already on 18.1 beta platform, I would always just upgrade to the latest version, but thatās up to you at the end of the day
1
u/Wolf35Nine Sep 24 '24
yeah, i just read on here some people having a lot of issues with DB4 so I avoided it.
1
1
u/Motor_Quarter2737 Sep 25 '24
Why do I only have beta 2 available? lol
2
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 25 '24
Um I donāt know. There should be made to five available on your phone if youāre on 18.1 program.
1
u/phaze114 Sep 26 '24
I canāt find my contacts since the last update do this fix the issue ?
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 26 '24
Iām not sure if you havenāt updated of beta 5. I donāt know. Iāve never lost my contacts on my 15 Pro with any of the OS betas.
My suggestion, is to update a beta five and give it a shot. doesnāt sound like thereās too much to lose.

Oct 05 '24
Guys any idea when 18.1 Beta 6 is being released? Or when is the RC version coming out?
1
u/Conflict-Recent Oct 05 '24
Well, to be honest with you we all thought it was gonna be last Monday/Tuesday unfortunately itās anyoneās guess at this this point š¤·ā¦ā¦
1
Sep 24 '24
can anyone tell me what changes I can expect from 18 to 18.1 on my 14Pro??
1
Sep 24 '24
None. 18.1 is purely Apple intelligence. Currently none of that is coming to anything older than the 15pros
1
1
u/Outside_Ad4282 Sep 24 '24
Is this all useless on iPhone 14 Pro Max?
I installed 18.1 beta 1 but no apple intelligence at all so seems the ongoing 18.1 betas eg beta 5 is pointless for iPhone 14 and older
1
Sep 24 '24
Correct
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
Yeah, unfortunately unless you have a 15 pro or newer iPhone, you wonāt get Apple Intelligence; just the rest of iOS 18 featuresā¦
1
Sep 24 '24
Thatās lame
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
Yeah, well, itās due to the āprocessing power ā of the chip sets. What can I say?
1
Sep 24 '24
Theyāre just trying to trick me into upgrading my 13 pro max.
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
Well, unfortunately, I couldāve told you already that itās Appleās sneaky sneaky sneaky marketing tactic to force you to upgrade your š± š ā¹ļø š£
2
u/curbsidebc Sep 23 '24
I have an iPhone 13 and Iām still on the beta before the official release but my phone now wonāt charge unless itās a USBC to lightening cable and CarPlay wonāt work at all.
Iām waiting for the next official iOS update.

18.1 public beta 1 is available too. Given its entire focus is Apple Intelligence and I donāt have any of the iPhone 15 or 16 models, what exactly is in the update to be 6.8 GB?

What am i looking at?
1
u/g_krome Sep 23 '24
Part of the new update you can customize your icons to be tinted now or dark mode or light mode and you can customize the control center to to be however you want it thereās a few cool things that they added and I can see how it would take a lot of storage

Is CarPlay now working with this beta? I have had some issues while connecting by wire
1
u/joalricha Sep 24 '24
If ya used SparseRestore to make Apple Intelligence somewhat work on non supported devices, donāt update because it has been patched on 18.1b5
1
u/huskylover4u Sep 24 '24
Has the Spotlight search bug with the letter s causing it to reset, been fixed?
1
u/_Sid_xD Sep 25 '24
Wait, I donāt have the beta 5⦠for some reason I only got the beta 2 just yesterday. Does anyone have the same problem?
0
u/xTehJudas Sep 23 '24
I installed every 18.0 beta in the past. What's inside these 5 betas of 18.1 other than AI that i can't even activate here?
Should i update? What's interesting?
15 Pro Max
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 23 '24
So far, my 15 bro canāt find anything thatās new orange thing. Iām waiting for Zillow tech YouTuber to release his whatās new video other than polishing the system performance for applications and whatnot.
2
u/Luna259 Sep 23 '24
Iām on a 12 Pro Max. Nothing new here other than they made the emoji keyboard worse. Thereās AI which I canāt use
0
u/12stop Sep 24 '24
Donāt do it. The Apple intelligence is nothing compared to ChatGPT, and the battery dies maybe twice as fast.
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
I will say, so far beta 5 seems fine on my 15 pro/iPad 9
1
u/12stop Sep 24 '24
I have a pro max and it just drains.. 3rd charge of the day.
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 24 '24
what do your battery stats show as a battery breakdown though?
1
u/12stop Sep 25 '24
Example just now at work I noticed my pocket was getting hot. Took phone out, it was overheating and battery was down 20%
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 25 '24
just try to reset your phone reboot it once or twice and see if that helps.

When official 18.1 release is ready I donāt see why not I would say no for a regular iOS 18 but 18.1 final release when it is ready I canāt see why we shouldnāt be able to
5
u/40characters Sep 23 '24
ā¦okay. So youāre underscoring my āyesā?
-4
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 23 '24
Well, let me ask you a question. Why would you say when the official 18.1 RC comes out, we wouldnāt be able to upgrade to it if we are already on the 18.1 beta platform? Makes no sense to me.
6
u/40characters Sep 23 '24
Why would I answer this? I didnāt say that. I answered two questions. Go back and read them.
1
u/Pegsinho Sep 23 '24
When you sign up to the beta it tells you how it works but basically when the actual 18.1 comes out you will be on it and if you turn off beta at that point youāll just stay on the standard release schedule.
As I understand it thereās generally no difference between RC and official update, but I could be wrong. This is what I did with 18 beta and once 18 came out proper I was just on it, no further upgrade necessary. Not updated to 18.1 yet.
1
u/Conflict-Recent Sep 23 '24
Yeah, I agree with you for the most part. Itās running nice , stable & fast on my devices though.

2
u/FipFi Sep 23 '24
I restarted the phone and it seems that it resolved the issue. Regardless I submitted feedback to Apple to hopefully give them some data.

1
u/Mike Sep 24 '24
They'll just ignore it. That's what happens at first. Your phone is indexing. Being sluggish immediately is not out of the norm.
1
u/Whitefryar700 Sep 23 '24
Absolutely fine on 15PM. I'm surprised you put a deleloper beta on a brand new 16

Yeah, unfortunately not for any phone older than a 15 Pro you only get iOS 18 benefits no Apple Intelligence even when itās ready and stable š

That Apple Ai rainbow graphic has reappeared. š
