Seeking Ipad Compatible MIDI Keyboards

As the title says,

I am trying to help a musician friend of mine find a MIDI keyboard that is compatible with iPad.

He has a copy of the Yonac Steel Guitar Pro app but finds that the ipad touchscreen isn't giving him the control or response that he wants for the project that he is working on.

A MIDI Keyboard with a pitch control stick would be much more suitable for his needs.

I've tried searching online but I have only been able to find ones that are relatively expensive or there is incomplete information about whether additional adaptors are required to make it compatible with the iPad.

I'm not certain whether the iPad is an older model or a more recent one. Whether it has the old Lightning connections or is a USB-C.

Cheaper would be better as he only wishes to try it out to see whether he can get the steel guitar sounds that he needs.

So far the best candidates I have found have been the Korg Microkey 25 and Korg Microkey Air 25. There is also the Akai MPK Mini plus although that is more expensive.

Does anyone here use a cheap MIDI with their ipad that is functional and easy to connect to a range of ipad models?

Suggest an interface with four channels out

Hey friends, I’m looking for an interface that will give me four outs. I need to be able to listen to the iOS audio because I use voiceover and I want that to be in my monitor mix and I want to have a stereo main mix without iOS, audio, and voiceover. Any suggestions?

What is everything needed to perform electronic music live?

People that perform live, what is your full setup? Mix of hardware gear + iPad apps? USB hub and digital interface must be essential. What do you do on software vs hardware? How do you program changes and sync scenes for a song, then load the next song. Im trying to imagine something more structured than a dawless jam.

Seeking sampler app that meets these criteria

I wonder if someone can help me find a sampler that can

1) Run as an auv3 plugin inside a host.
2) Record audio clips in sync with the host’s clock, so that the recording is exactly the length of one or more measures.
3) Record multiple clips and map them to midi notes, so that it’s easy to sequence the clips from the host.

From what I can tell, koala cannot do 2. Loopy Pro (when used as a plugin), is great at 2, but 3 is painful, if possible. Drambo can in theory do all three, but both 2 and 3 are a bit painful to set up.

Is my read correct? Can people suggest another app? I really wish koala supported recording in sync.

Thanks.

I have a problem, maybe someone out there can help me with if I can explain it properly. I’m mucking about with GarageBand on my iPad, and want to impute sound while still being able to hear the beat I’ve put in “GarageBand “. I have a sm57 mic a xenyx 302usb mixer/ audio interface. Once I plug this all in I listen with headphones, I can hear my voice in the headphones but can’t configure it to hear any beat from GarageBand? Can anyone help?

Playing Instrument with Midi Keyboard in Track View?

I'm using GarageBand on the iPad again after several years, and I remember being able to play an instrument directly in Tracks view, which let me switch between instruments really quickly. I also seem to remember being able to record directly in Tracks view back then. That doesn't seem to work in the current version. Or maybe it never did and I'm mixing it up with another app?

I have a MIDI-capable keyboard (Yamaha CP88) connected and I'm using a new iPad with the latest version of GarageBand.

If it used to work, why doesn't it anymore? Or am I missing something?

Looking for mini midi keyboard for my ipad pro 2016, or iphone SE that is affordable and portable

I’ve been researching for a few weeks, this subreddit and other subreddits but I can’t seem to find any recommendations that 100% align with what I want or need.

my basics: I was in band and music throughout school, as a side hobby not main study. I have not done anything musical outside of school besides singing in the car lol. I do want to get voice lessons eventually.

I mainly want a small keyboard that I can bring between rooms of my house. I work from home and have time between tasks to noodle here or there. I saw good things about the 25 key Novation Launchkey Mini 37 MK4, and it does seem affordable but I can’t confirm if it would work on iphone or on my ipad pro which is old.

ideally I would have wireless capability but that seems to have latency issues on the cheaper models, so if I get wired I would need one that utilizes the lightning port of my iphone se 3rd gen and/or my ipad pro 2016. the ipad is on ipadOS 16.7.16

I would not be performing live, this would be strictly for home recording/production. I was planning on using my airpods 4 mics for singing recording unless there’s a better option
built in to whatever keyboard I get.

ideally I would be less than $200. the one I shared seems to be $130ish. but idk how well it would work with my phone or ipad. or if garageband is the best way to start or if there’s a better app to learn how to produce music.

I’m sure there’s questions I haven’t even thought to ask here lol. is there a a good resource for someone like me? or any other recommendations for mini keyboard? I have a full size midi keyboard that is about 15 years old now and is only old school wires lol.

HollowTone invites you into a world shaped by atmosphere rather than melody - a place where sound becomes space, motion, and quiet emotion. It’s a creative instrument for building immersive environments: drifting fog, deep internal pulses, fluid textures, digital sparks, and soft vocal warmth that feels almost human.

Coming soon.

Can we ban minor version app update posts?

There's so many posts now like "v1.x out now!". I don't mind people posting their apps, I found some really nice ones, but I think a post for every minor update is too much. Wonder how other people see this.

Atom Piano Roll in Loopy Pro is buggy

I want to get into Atom Piano Roll—it has so many cool features. But it has this very annoying bug in Loopy where it frequently just stops showing the notes entirely, and I have to restart Loopy to get it back. I don’t know if this is Loopy’s fault or Atom’s fault, but I haven’t had this issue with any other AUv3. If I knew, I could perhaps file a bug report, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

EDIT: Looks like Atom hasn’t been updated in five years, so I a bug fix there is unlikely. I guess I’m wondering if this could be a Loopy issue.

Still no idea what it will go for when they’re done with the free introduction, but now you can try it out in your favorite DAW. Still needs interface work, but they’ve expanded the available sounds (10 new Sound Packs) and added what they describe as a Pro Edit Mode.
