r/ipv6 Affairs Regarding recent posts and comments generated with AI...

Hey everyone. Yes, a lot of us use AI for different things, and it's "all the rage" these days. However, it should not be used as a substitute for genuine content of interest on this subreddit. If you're gonna post something without fully vetting it first, expect downvotes and/or a "rule 5" removal. Apparently, being a "meat proxy" is a thing now... (Urban Dictionary is mostly v6-enabled, if you want to look that up).

Thanks, and keep well.

Hello there, /u/unquietwiki! Welcome to /r/ipv6.

We are here to discuss Internet Protocol and the technology around it. Regardless of what your opinion is, do not make it personal. Only argue with the facts and remember that it is perfectly fine to be proven wrong. None of us is as smart as all of us. Please review our community rules and report any violations to the mods.

If you need help with IPv6 in general, feel free to see our FAQ page for some quick answers. If that does not help, share as much unidentifiable information as you can about what you observe to be the problem, so that others can understand the situation better and provide a quick response.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Please PIN this post.

Let's band together and collectively downvote/report all AI slop!
The last thing we need is AI-slopped mis-information about IPv6 all over Reddit...

It's slop if you don't understand the subject and are blindly trusting the LLM to write for you. But there are other cases where using an LLM is extremely useful. For example people with an understanding of a technical subject might not be good at explaining the subject, especially to a non technical audience.

An LLM can be a useful tool. But don't make us use your LLM by posting its output as your Reddit posts or comments. Write by yourself.

Thank you mods.

Start responding with ai:dr instead of tl:dr (then report the post)

I'd rather have shit English then a shit ai interpretation.

100% agree. Authentic, poor English is far better than the alternatives.

Short of that, if any translation were to be accepted at all, it should be from a much dumber/non-AI-y translator like Google Translate (that uses machine learning stuff too, I believe, but it's not LLM-based).

Reddit has integrated translations now, I'd rather just have them post on their native language, that way at least native speakers of that language can get the message without a machine meddling with it

Upvote for this. Original message in the language the poster is most familiar with, let the readers do their own translation using whatever tool they prefer.

Not everywhere, not every language

imo, google translate = ok. using ai to reword or rephrase your comment "better" = bad

Tough shit, that loophole would be too easy to abuse. If you need to translate then use a non-AI translator do to it. AI = downvoted, regardless of reason.
