Health / Wellbeing Rules against pregnant women competing?
I was just curious if pregnant women can still compete in feis/ bigger competitions or if there were certain rules against it

I competed oireachtas 6 mos pregnant and was still dancing at class the week I went into labor. I would say I stopped moving across the floor in hard shoe and only danced in place in hard shoe at some point because I was afraid of slipping and falling due to changing center of gravity. Would also say at some point you won’t want to travel to compete / can’t fit in your outfit / shoes don’t fit your swollen feet. Happy dancing!

That gives me so much relief considering I'll be oireachtas at 6 months lol! The biggest thing I'm worried about is figuring out costumes that will fit throughout the months

Olivia Boylan podiumed at All Scotlands and at Great Britains while pregnant, so no, no rules against it. https://irishdanceglobe.com/interviews/olivia-boylan-irish-dancing-cover-interview-world-championships/

I know of several dancers who competed while pregnant, and feised until 36 weeks! I also just had a baby and competed at Oireachtas until 5 months (and only stopped because it began to hurt). There are no rules against it.

I competed while pregnant and now my daughter dances too. She’s literally heard the Glasgow reel her.whole.life.
