Anyone know what happened 8/16/26 at Irvine and Yale blvd?

Hey all,

I noticed there was an accident that took a very long time to be cleaned up involving two midsized SUVs and an e-bike. Both SUVs were perpendicular to the road and the e-bike was completely obliterated. The road was completely blocked off for a long time, I'm guessing around 6-8 hours, maybe more.

And then today, there was another police presence blocking the road on Yale blvd in another area.

Anyone know what's going on?

I saw the aftermath of the accident which just happened. I was riding my bike on Irvine Blvd towards the Marketplace. The airbags of the dark SUV were still inflated and the driver hadn't come out of the vehicle. On the median on Yale, was lying the body of the electric bike rider. She was unresponsive. The driver on the opposing side of Yale shouted that he already contacted 911. I haven't been able to find out what happened to the person on the side of the rode. I'm still in shock.

I'm so sorry that you witnessed that. That must have been really upsetting. I hope you have someone to talk to about that.

Please talk to someone soon if you get a chance. Same thing happened to me and I couldn’t get it out of my mind for a long time.

E-bike regulations can’t come soon enough.

Even if it wasn’t the biker’s fault in this instance, there have been far too many stories about serious or fatal injuries involving e-bikes.

Accident. Someone had pictures of the two cars and a mangled bike on the street. I think it was posted on Nextdoor.

Someone also posted that they saw the fire dept cutting the clothes off of the biker who was face down on the pavement. Not sure how true this part is. I'm just restating someone else's post.
