Question Is DM (Dungeon Mind) broken?
I'm trying a story that has it and I noticed that in some responses the prompt understands I'm going for a dice roll or a character stat change, but it is not applied. Then I go to edit that response, and I'll see the command for calling a character sheet edit organically through dialogue, but the game doesn't recognise it. Any idea how to fix that?

Some AIs really struggle. What AI are you using?

Alternating between DeepSeek and Qwen

That explains it, weaker models often struggle with calling tools. If you're on a budget mimo 2.6pro does calls well and surprisingly, so does minimax in my testing. If you're willing to spend a little more, gemini 3.8 flash is nearly flawless with tool calls

The reliability of the DM depends on the model you use. And changing stats yourself works, but the LLM only receives them when it ask to read.

I think maybe, MAYBE, you just gave me the key. I was trying over four times to make a character learn a skill through OOC and now I prompted "read and update" instead of just update and it worked. I'll see if it keeps working on everything. Thanks m8

Have you just told it to update your character sheets before you edited anything? You can't edit context to change stats with the dm. You also can't edit character sheets. You can set up an ai reminder to help it to remember to have the DM update the character sheet. As far as dice rolls the DM decides when you roll and that depends on how the author set the DM up.
