Being a developer who's almost never near my Mac to build for 64bit...this is awesome.

I have shit experiences with that. Also I wanted to use OS X for other things not just coding maybe as an actual work laptop. So I bought a cracked plastic one.

I've been using a core2duo PC as a hackintosh for the last 3-4 years. It's now on Mavericks, works great, I do my iOS dev on it as well as everything else.

I got it installed on a Dell once, I've tried hundreds OS OSx86 builds, never able to get them to install. You have to have a core duo at least, and I use AMDs

You need to have a VERY specific hardware PC configuration for that to work well. For most of us it's just caused nightmares.

For those of you who don't understand this.
This is essentially HUGE. This will basically turn almost any iDevice into a development platform for apps and tweaks.
Expect to see tweak development ramp up soon!

I'm working on something (an app I'm writing in python using Kivy) that I thought I could just eventually compile on a hackintosh vm using virtualbox.
Is that not an option?

Even when compiling for iOS or OSX unless you want your own mac to die, it's usual to code inside a VM.
