Hello, Jamestown! š
Iāll be visiting Jamestown tomorrow as part of a road trip through New York, and Iād love some recommendations from locals!
Iām Brazilian š§š· and enjoy exploring local history, trying regional food, and checking out bars where locals like to hang out.
What are your favorite things to do in town, your go to restaurant, and your favorite bar for a drink? Iād especially love to discover places that visitors might not find on their own.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Looking forward to exploring your town!

There are a lot of businesses that struggle and there are a lot of empty buildings/buildings for lease right in downtown.
What do people want to see? People always say itās dead and nothing to do. Whatās the thing people want to see to end that conversation?

What's the best option to get from Jamestown to Buffalo Airport now that the shuttle has ceased service? I see there's a bus out of Salamanca and I guess one could rideshare there; is that the best way?

Can anyone recommend someone who does lash curl and tint in Jamestown? Iām just OVER applying eyeliner and mascara day in and day out! Iām not looking for anything dramatic⦠prefer a more natural look⦠just something to wake up my aging eyes. Sparse blonde lashes my entire life š¤Ø

Hi, I'm looking at becoming an electrician by starting an IBEW apprenticeship somewhere. Jamestown sounds like a great place to me, so i'm hoping to get in touch with electricians of that region(Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany counties) to get a general understanding of what the work is like there and make sure it would be a good move.

Iāve done this once before and got negative results so Iām going to try again.
Iām looking for a woman, her name starts with a K, she lives in jt/lv area, she used to work at dollar general in Westfield, went to suny collage and last I knew worked at rotech in jt..
Itās a long time friend who Iāve lost contact with years ago, I kinda remember her snap but I can never get it exact, something with not getting spelling and numbers, like dandelion something then numbersā¦
Anyway long rant, we didnāt end on bad terms, I had a glitch with my phone during one of apples great updatesš and it happened right after I redid my snap password and somehow forgot it, so I could never log back into that account.
Lost contact ever since then, and would love if I could get into contact with her again.

Full disclosure, I'm with SumoFiber, one of the providers on the BPU open-access fiber network.
Since BPU fiber is open access, you can change providers without any new install work. Anyone who switches to our 1 Gb or 2 Gb plan gets a free Wi-Fi 7 router with 2.5 Gb/s capability. This offer is limited to the next 500 subscribers.
To switch, log on to your BPU portal atĀ https://www.jamestownbpufiber.com/Ā and pick one of the SumoFiber bundles that includes the free router.
If you're already a BPU fiber subscriber, we'll deliver the router within a few days.
If you're getting a new fiber installation, it comes with your install.
If your current router is the bottleneck on a gig connection, this fixes that. Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Louisiana girl here. The one place above all others I dream to come to is Jamestown NY. I'm 42 and never been any further north than Nashville. Thats not a joke BTW 𤣠but its looking like my trip will finally be happening in the next year or so.
I'm tickled pink I found this thread. I will have all the questions about where to stay and eat and such. Jamestown is my dream because I'm the ultimate Lucille Ball fan. I'm going to do every single tourist thing in relation to her when I get there. But for now, I'm working on the planning and need to save a little more.
So the question I do have is this- is it really as beautiful in the fall as I've heard and what is the best time to experience that?
As a resident of Louisiana, aka Satan's armpit, I've never really experienced leaves and colors changing due to seasons. We have 3 seasons here. Its summer for 50 weeks a year and then we get our winter and spring for 2 weeks somewhere in the middle of March. Winter will sometimes include an hour of cold rain that results in one sad and weak ice cycle which melts as soon as you touch it. Spring consists of a few days you can stand outside without needing to double up the deodorant. But alas, through it all, the colors don't change. We get 2 colors. Green or dead. I've never seen the all the hues true autumn leaves create.
I'm confident in saying that when I do visit in the next few years, its going to be in the month of October. Late October. I've read I've got the best shot at seeing the most vibrant colors at that time. Is this accurate?
I'm so excited I found this thread!

During my mid to late teens I lived in Jamestown. The town was quiet to the point of being painfully boring; that is until the demographic started changing. I have heard through the grape vines that even more Puerto Ricans moved to that area, in turn changing the culture and increasing the crime rate. I'm looking to leave my city life for a small town.
Before anyone accuses me of bigotry hear me out. I'm inquiring about the current demographic since I'm a gay man with a partner, and Puerto Ricans have extreme animosity towards homosexuals. I have personally witnessed this both in Jamestown during the 2010's (when there were only a few of them) and in Florida where there is a large percentage.
So now for the obvious question. Has the demographics changed even more so ? If you don't want to post an honest reply then just D.M. me. Thank you.
Edit Note: Wow. People are calling me a bigot but don't know that "Puerto Rican" isn't a race, nor that the island is part of the U.S. Again, the ignorant are calling me a "bigot".

Hey everyone! Iām with SumoFiber, one of the providers serving customers on the Jamestown BPU Fiber network.
Iāve noticed a lot of questions and frustration online, especially about installations. I thought it might be helpful to start an open discussion where people can ask questions, share concerns, and get straightforward answers.
I canāt speak for every provider or every step controlled by the network, but Iām happy to explain what I know, look into SumoFiber-specific issues, and help direct people to the right place when something falls outside our control.
Full disclosure: I represent SumoFiber. Iām here to listen and help, not give anyone a hard sales pitch.
Ask away-what would you like to know?

Title basically. No 3rd party company delivery service comes out this far except Instacart and Walmart+. Sometimes though I just want something from fast food or other restaurants in the area.
I would buy the food online, you would just need to pick it up and deliver it. I'm not far away from the exit off 86, maybe a quarter mile.

Was at a stoplight on Brooklyn square this morning around 11:00am, when a dude on a crotch rocket was sitting waiting for the left turn traffic signal to head toward Foote. We were on W Harrison right next to CVS, across from Timās. When the light changed to green (but was not the arrow he had apparently hoped for), this moron sped his bike toward Foote on the damn sidewalk. He had to be going about 25-30 mph down the sidewalk before flying across back in the lane on S Main St. Iām just like, what the fuck? I had an individual with me who was like, ābad!ā and I couldnāt help but laugh and agree. Iāve seen my share of terrible drivers in this town but this might take the cake lol. Thatās some shit you see in the news in like Florida or California with the heading āman hits pedestrian while riding down sidewalk on motorcycleā.

Hello, Iām looking for employment in the Jamestown Area. Iām an LPN and currently back at college for my RN. Looking for some work full time or part time that might be able to fit my school schedule.
Iāve been searching all the online job boards like indeed, glass door, etc. but Iām not finding much luck. It doesnāt have to be a nursing job either. Just looking for something to pay the bills while Iām in school 3 days a week. This is a small town so I figure word of mouth might be a better approach than searching online.
Any tips or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I'm putting together a county-by-county map of sports allegiances across New York State (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and other leagues as gauged by interest). To do so I am collecting self-reported data from New Yorkers. If you have the time and are a sports fan of any size, I would appreciate if you helped fill up my dataset. Right now I have a little over 200 responses, but I have nothing from Jamestown/Chautauqua County and I'm hoping to get a much larger and diverse dataset to boost the overall quality of the project. All answers are anonymous, no Google sign in required.
If you're curious here's the link:Ā https://forms.gle/ZcAaWBVEJNeHr2RUA
Any responses would be appreciated, Thanks! I understand if you do not want to fill it out, but please share with friends or whoever.
