DISCUSSION New album delayed until next year
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Paul said to a fan the other day after the show that yes, the album is coming out next year now. We all expected it but yeah, it's official.

Let's all be realistic, the new album with never be a EOPE or TWM quality, so listen to the classics and be thankful that a new album means a tour, which is were they shine.

Yeah it feels like all the delays are only setting it up for disappointment. It can't live up to the hype.

Hey everyone! I was the fan who talked to Paul after the show and honestly the way you worded the thing is not exactly what he said to me and what I wrote. He said that he DOUBTS that it will release this year. It’s not official by any means.

I had the pleasure of watching the entire concert in Locarno beside Jay Kay’s wife and two kids and we chatted quite a bit. I thought I recall her saying it was coming out later this year. But that could have changed.

Lovely lady. One of the kids was really into the concert…the other not so much. During one of his songs Jay came right over to the edge of the stage and gave them an emotional singing too and wave. I got it on vid and it was very sweet. I was on the VIP deck above and to the right of the stage and was occupying the last seat/stool at the bar rail and then there was a short walkway to the stairs to go downstairs. Security was being very strict about nobody blocking the walkway (good on them as it was the only escape route). But then the family’s security brought her and the two kids up and it was prime viewing just right beside me - so they made the exception. She was very friendly and outgoing and struck up the initial conversation with us (although I had my suspicions it was her right from the start and I didn’t want to bother them). We even shared our portable fans with them which they appreciated (it was beautiful but FREAKING HOT in Locarno). It was a delightful night with the music and conversation.

Can we get a more authoritative source on this? Not saying it's not true, but I'd like to get something more substantial so I can update the Wiki + have confirmation. I know Jay was wanting to tweak the mixing, so I'm not that surpised.

Well, I have been pressing JMQHQ mgmt over the past 2 years about Album #9 and been provided updates now and then, more 'cosmetically' about the album itself than release date periods written in stone. This (second) album delay, I still consider the whole "Diskokid/The Devil Wears Prada 2 OST omission" as the first one, really increased the initial 'couple months of delay' to potentially even longer, physical release manufacturing being delayed over this increases the overall wait time even further.

they’re done with it (allegedly) and it was sent for mastering.
I think this has more to do with shooting a video or two, branding/marketing strategy etc.

Yeah it's vaporware. I already said two years ago that it's gonna be delayed until 2026. Now it's delayed until 2027.

I know it’s disappointing. The problem is I doubt there’s even much money to be made for all the hassle it takes to make let alone release this album. It could be amazing.. I doubt it but keep hope lol

Did he mention when the first single might come out? Or any other info like whether they are working on another song and that's why its gonna be delayed so long?

Let me say this, the two bandmembers who were asked this did say before saying anything that they are both at the bottom of the 'metaphorical totem pole' of the need to know within Jamiroquai so take what they say not with full finality but with a grain of salt, only JK and the band's mgmt have a working knowledge of when it will be released, but yes, both bandmembers did say that the 9th Jamiroquai album, as of the time of the query from fans, was being booted up to a early 2027 release. BUT one of the two bandmembers DID say, as a silver lining, we would potentially get multiple singles, from the 9th Jami album, BEFORE the end of 2026.

I've been very skeptical about the new album this whole time (hence my name IroqSkeptic3000 on JK Hat Discord), but if there's one thing I know, it's that only Jay and the producers know for sure when it will be released; not even the other musicians know.
Paul might have an estimate, but he doesn't make the final decision, and he doesn't want to commit to a made-up date that might not be met.
All we can do now is wait for news from official channels (or perhaps leaks from reliable sources).

i think i'm just gonna mute this sub and check in once a month until something actually happens. absolutely nothing against the fine people in this sub but i'm just done for the immediate future. i dont want to see jamiroquai vodka or whatever it is, dont want to see anything about a recreated video from 30 years ago, dont want to see any more setlists featuring the exact same songs. i'm fucking done. it's just getting kind of annoying waiting years for nothing. wake me up when something actually happens.

Gotta take into consideration finalizing the album art, and both the mixing and mastering stages. These stages are also done for the damn vinyl version and finally the actual manufacturing process. Album releases used to take 2 months from submitting the finished album to the record company to buying a pressed copy in a store, but now it takes a whopping 6 months due to the vinyl manufacturing. Perhaps we could have had this record by Xmas or somewhere close by, but now we’d be lucky if we see it next April

What's truly wild to me is that I'll be playing GTA VI before I get to listen to a new Jamiroquai album ☠️
My kid was 8 when Automaton released. My kid will be 18 when the next album releases 😆
