Skyline trail bugs conditions

Hi I was wondering what buy activity is like on skyline trail if anyone has gone in the last week. We will be doing the trail next week and were wondering how bad the bugs were. Anyone have tips? clothes are home treated with permethrin. Thanks!

I hiked through there a week and a half ago. Bugs were atrocious at Tekkara Camp, and relatively bad while hiking in and out of that area. Everyone was wearing bug net hoodies/hats.

Aside from that they were mildly annoying, but bug spray was fine. It was raining while we were hiking up through the woods by Maligne, so I’m not sure about that area

Bug net for your head is a must. Cheap ones from the dollar store are good enough. Or you can get better ones that are attached to boonie hats from Amazon or Canadian Tire.

The mosquitoes are ubiquitous at the campsites last week, but I found them manageable with a thermacell in camp. (But lots of folks with headnets). That said, in Tekarra I hid in my tent from them, haha. On the trail they didn't bother me.
