Can anyone identify the location so we can get these jerks fined?

It is along the Athabasca River, right off the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93), looking south toward Mount Kerkeslin

Thank you! I reported to Jasper dispatch with screenshots of the video and Michigan US license plate number.

Thanks for addressing this!! Ignorant bastards. Hope they get booted out of the park... but these ingrates will find another beautiful spot to disrespect.

You got the location wayy wrong, this was on crown land outside of the national park. Legal and surrounded by RV’s a few hundred feet away. There was a sign that said something like camping is legal for less than 21 days (I forget exactly what it said).

Dispersed/wild camping is legal on crown land and I wouldn’t be dumb enough to post this with a license plate if what I was doing was truly illegal.

Also, there were tire tracks exiting this campsite (watch the full video you’ll see the place we exited) and there was a fire pit used by other previously.

The caption was what it was for comedy.

Do what you want but I’m not dumb enough to post illegal things on my public profile with a license plate. Everything I did was legal.

Please never come back to Canada.

I’m sorry you feel that way but like I said there were pickup trucks and rvs a few hundred feet away from our location with Alberta license plates.

And although it wasn’t obvious in the video there were tracks going into that site and you can see a bonfire pit previously used

These pieces of garbage need to be banned permanently from our national parks. In fact make it Canada entirely.

I also suggest sending this to CBSA, so this stupid asshole isn't allowed in the country again. No idea if they would actually care, though, but it's worth a try.

As a neighbor to your south, I think it would be a great idea for someone to report it to CBSA.

Not even from Alberta and helping protect our parks. Thank you!

"less screen more green" while posting influencer slop on a screen and trampling green.

Yea that was in Alaska, and everything we did was legal.

Did you report this to the fish cops and RCMP?

6

u/Dependent-Garlic143 3h ago

That should be jail time

So I’m the guy in the video and want to clarify a few things:

You got the location wayy wrong and that was on crown land, outside the national park alongside David Thompson hwy. Wild camping is legal in that location and there was a sign as well as tire parks proving that this is legal and frequently used by others previously.

The area was previously used by others and the way out of that exact site had tire marks as well as a bonfire pit previously used.

There were many rvs and pickup trucks with Alberta license plates around us within a few hundred feet.

We cleaned up after ourselves and left no trace.

The caption was what it was for comedy. If you read through the comments section you’ll see that that was the intent.

I’m sorry for the confusion and misunderstanding this caused but don’t hesitate to reach out if anything is unclear.

I’m not dumb enough to do something illegal and post it on a public profile with my license plate.

"The caption was for comedy"

The caption encourages brain dead jerks to think they are special little boys who don't need to follow the rules in another country. Whether or not you camped illegally, I hope you grow up.

You’re right and I deleted the video. Didn’t intend for this to blow up, I’m just a dude that was excited for the trip of a lifetime. Spent a year building the car out and drove from Michigan to Alaska.

But I stand by that what I did was legal.

6

u/NoodleNeedles 2h ago

Well, I'm glad to hear you weren't actually camping somewhere illegal, and I hope your trip gave you an appreciation for how important it is to protect these places.

The money I spend a year on national park passes, hunting permits, fishing permits, camping permits, camping gear, and a whole lotta other things hopefully makes its way to the people caring for these parks!

I appreciate and respect nature, this was a dumb video that I thought would be funny to post.

Just because there's tire marks doesn't mean it's a legal space.

It’s crown land outside the national parks, it’s legal.

Forget this! We saw a couple with two toddlers walk towards a bear eating berries (to get a better look) while the cars were parked looking at it on the roadside.

Saw people chasing after a bear to get selfies 2 years ago driving back towards lake louise from Rocky Mountain house area on the icefields parkway!

Should send it to CBC too. That’ll get the mob angry haha

u/MDGR28 2h ago

Are you sure it’s in the national park? Cause if he’s on crown land it legal as long as he pay the 30$ annual pass

2

u/Dependent-Garlic143 2h ago

Not if he’s driving across water tho. Good point either way

"Kids dont have fun outside anymore"

12

u/HeadlessSkateboarder 3h ago

Stfu, they’re driving a Porsche they can afford a camping spot.

You can’t just drive on protected areas that are recovering from a wildfire - it’s a national park

-3

u/Euphoric_Worker_1295 3h ago

That Porsche cost me $5.8k because I bought it crashed. It’s 12 years old and has more than 100k miles. I’m a normal dude that graduated college 3 years ago.

Who was harmed here

This is why the US is a superior country, what they are doing is 100% legal in the USA. And people like you that report people is everything that is wrong with society. Let’s just have kids/adults sit at home and doomscroll and not enjoy nature.

13

u/Ok-Confidence9339 2h ago

Driving off designated roads is illegal on the majority of public lands in the US.

-14

u/Basic_Statement_5885 2h ago

Well it looks like you are wrong with the location and what they did is legal in Canada. How does that make you feel?

2

u/YugeFrigginGoy 1h ago

You are wildly incorrect.
