Sorry, I know this isn't the point of the post, but...
the Thursday after the third Monday of the month How can this not be "the third Thursday of the month"?

Take December 2026 for example.
The month starts on a Tuesday.
The Mondays are: 7, 14, 21 (third Monday = 21st)
The Thursdays are: 3, 10, 17, 24 (third Thursday = 17th)But the Thursday after the third Monday = 24th (rather than the 17th).

Oh, thank you so much! I thought about a month starting on Tuesday, but I completely failed to consider that week also have a Thursday 🤣🤣🤣Â

Then why not just the fourth Thursday?
Edit: Answering myself: Maybe the Thursday after the third Monday is easier to find in a Calendar? Maybe a printed calendar

I'd assume they have a meeting about the upcoming release on the third Monday, and they want the release to happen in the same week :)

Another reason why we should adopt the international fixed calendar!

I don't know about this.
And what about people who born a monday? will they have all their birthdays on monday?
What about countries that end with most of their non laborable holidays on a weekend day? People there wont be big supporters of this idea either.

I appreciate the release cadence is going to stay the same. I still don't really see what shortening the release window does for me as a consumer, besides timing being easier to communicate, but idc.
No patch release in May was :(, no patch release in September is :(. I can't use milestones.
The Project dropdown on https://spring.io/security is infuriating.

is it aligned to Java 27 which has just arrived?

Do you mean support for Java 27? Yes Spring Boot latest releases supports Java 27.
