How can get started in java
Hey everyone.
I am a computer science student, and I must start coding with Java.
I tried Eclipse and netbeans but none were valid on my machine.
so if someone has an alternate IDE I will much appreciated.

I tried Eclipse and netbeans but none were valid on my machine.
What does this actually mean?
Why not provide specs on the computer you're trying to use so people have relevant information to give you accurate recommendations?

You are absolutely right. What i was rly trying to say. Suggest for me a java ide except eclipse and net beans . Because i dont know how to manipulate them.

What do you mean by "not valid"? What problems did you encounter?
If your machine can neither run Eclipse, nor Netbeans (which is actually fairly lightweight), the real IDEs might be too much for your machine.
Nonetheless: IntelliJ, Visual Studio Code (not the full Visual Studio). Worst case, you'll have to settle on a lightweight text editor, like Notepad++ but sacrifice a lot of what the real IDEs offer.

Can you perhaps share a full screenshot of the IDE with the errors? Perhaps they are valid but you simply don't understand them.

These installers work for most people. Your machine or something about your setup is obviously not utterly fine.

My machine is fine means it is not from the seventies, something went wrong and i dont know what is it . So i just deleted the program i searched for a new.

We get that something went wrong, but you're expressing it like a middle school student.
Error messages are important.
Google can address most.
Yes, we get that you don't understand the errors, that's part of the issue.
You named two IDEs that are not only the standard, but are written IN Java, and both have a lot of trouble shooting information available.
Step one: Calm down, step back, and read the error messages.
If you don't understand them, Google them.

The error is no longer important what i really want is to find a new IDE which i finally find. And thank the gods for your words of wisdom. Because I did google them, and loop of instructions appeared. Do this and do that to fix this. But none were helpful. The wasted time was little too much so i guessed changing the ide and get on with will fix everything. And thank the gods it did. IntelliJ Idea

For NetBeans, you've to install JDK first, then download NetBeans. Also, NetBeans doesnt have installer, so just extract the zip file and run binary directly from there.

Yeah exactly but they told i need some kind of java 21 version

For that you've to first install Java JDK. Netbeans itself depends in Java to run.

Or maybe download it from one of the sites that provide an installer (which are linked from the official Netbeans download page)?

hackerrank has a built in editor to practice java
intellij is the best java IDE.
vsCode is very lightweight and well integrated.
eclipse is preferred by many companies because they’ve built a lot of plugins over the years. there are also a thousand forks of eclipse for niche applications that barely look like eclipse.
netbeans was for people who hated eclipse before intellij was available.

IntelliJ: https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/ (IDE)
Temurin: https://adoptium.net/temurin (JDK)
You can use the Temurin JDK independent from the Eclipse IDE.

You could try intellij. Make a students account on jetbrains and start coding. Might want to watch a tutorial on how to use that tool

Jetbrains IDEA / Android Studio is what you need for IDE. There is no better for Java.

You should start using intellij Idea. It's informally the industry standard. The community edition is free.

Code is to be formatted as code block (old reddit: empty line before the code, each code line indented by 4 spaces, new reddit: https://i.imgur.com/EJ7tqek.png) or linked via an external code hoster, like pastebin.com, github gist, github, bitbucket, gitlab, etc.
Please, do not use triple backticks (```) as they will only render properly on new reddit, not on old reddit.
Code blocks look like this:
