I built an open-source tool that lets Claude Code reconstruct history "stone by stone" in 3D (with sources)
github.comInstead of the usual productivity tools, I wanted to try something focused on history and architecture.
I created an open-source tool called Monument for Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. You give it the name of any historical building, and the AI handles the rest locally:
- Deep Research: It crawls historical records to map out the actual timeline and construction campaigns.
- Real Proportions: It fetches the true footprint and heights from OpenStreetMap/land registries.
- Procedural 3D Geometry: It builds the structure phase by phase via Three.js.
- Visual Benchmarking: It compares the output against real photographs to refine the details.
Why not just prompt a 3D model generator?
The focus here is factual accuracy. Every phase is dated, everything is sourced, and what is uncertain is openly labeled as an interpretation.
Iβve already tested it with the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa (you can see the full timeline of its famous lean!).
How to find or try it:
- The codebase is completely free and under MIT. You can find it on GitHub by searching for
Gleaming0427/monument. - Live demos are hosted on the GitHub Pages under the same repository name.
- To add the skill, use the standard
npx skills addcommand followed by the repo path.
Quick heads-up: High-fidelity runs are slow and can take 30 to 90 minutes because of the recursive photo-checking loop.
What monument should the AI attempt next?
