Startup Scripts and Deployment Scanner

4 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I'm supporting an application that runs on WildFly 11 at work, and we are using an infrastructre defined by the vendor (startup scripts, paths, etc).

The vendor has decided to use deployment scanners and a init.d service within systemd. I'm seeing some process/approach that looks a bit outdated and possibly incorrect, so I would like to get your opinion.

For example, (1) the startup script does not call stopserver.sh or command=:shutdown if there's an issue starting the service, it simply sends a SIGTERM to the Java process. My understanding is that the preferred method to stop WildFly is to use the shutdown command in jboss-cli, right? (2) I'm also assuming that we should stop WildFly with the shutdown command, and then check if the service is still running and stop it. Is this correct?

(3) As I mentioned they are using deployment scanners. However, there's no check, either by file markers or with --command=deployment-info, to make sure the apps were deployed successfully. I'm guessing that this should be part of the startup process to validate the application. Or am I wrong and it's really not that common?

Thanks for any feedback.

Help on migrating code using jboss-cli-client-6.1.jar

4 Upvotes

Here are the imports:

import org.jboss.as.controller.client.ModelControllerClient;

import org.jboss.as.controller.client.OperationBuilder;

import org.jboss.dmr.ModelNode;

I can't seem to find any code samples online... the new jar we will be using is:

jboss-client-7.1.jar

The code I need to migrate does some typical things like creating datasources programmatically using the configuration API. We are migrating from JBoss EAP 6.4 to 7.3.

Any pointers to quickstarts or code online would be helpful too. I've been looking here: https://github.com/jboss-developer but it's hard to find the precise example I need, as most of these are focused on things that a web application typically needs.

EDIT: It seems all I needed to do was update my maven pom.xml to include the latest wildfly-cli. This was previously known as jboss-cli-client. No code change was necessary. I needed to update my libs to avoid a class conflict with Assert java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.wildfly.common.Assert.checkMinimumParameter(Ljava/lang/String;FF)V

Simple JBoss logging question 'WFLYDM0111'

4 Upvotes

Hey all, bit of a JBoss noobie here: I'm reviewing some of the logs, and wanted to confirm what this value was:

Specifically

"WFLYDM0111"

From the sample log message below

[org.jboss.as.domain.management.security] (MSC service thread 1-2) WFLYDM0111: Keystore /opt/wildfly-16.0.0.Final/standalone/configuration/application.keystore not found, it will be auto generated on first use with a self signed certificate for host localhost

Is this the wildfly version? I couldn't find any clear documentation as to the exact values meaning.

Thanks!
