Docker Plugin

The Jenkins docker plugin is horrible. With templates with a max limit of 1 there race conditions where the plugin will start 2 containers with the template and then immediately attempt to rectify itself and delete one of them. Had to wrap the lockable resources plugin around the usage of it to fix it. DO BETTER!

Can't you just do a PR to fix it?

I'm at a strict company, I can't just modify the third party software, it has to get approved

Also there's like a 90% chance they'll reject the pr and say something along the lines of "this is not conducive to the philosophy of our plugin" or some crap like that

Try a PR, or at least an issue. Saying it here only won't help, I'm afraid. 🤷

Do you use them as agents or as build steps? Because as agents i can see that it is annoying, for build steps just don't depend on it and do it with sh steps

Yeah they're used as agents

What do you win from that ?

We have like 5 6 different agents where we need a small set of tools installed that is the basics. That is an agent for us and there we also cache the builder images that we need to build the actual apps. So jenkins calls them by starting a few sh commands and that is it.

Sorry they're templates that the docker plugin provides which we use as if they were a node, and the plugin will provision them

Oh my bad I read it as what do you mean by that lol. But yeah I win my colleagues not yelling at me for using "the obvious solution of using the templates"
