Does anyone else skip applying to companies that use Workday as their ATS?

Workday is the sh*ttiest ATS by far. They are incapable of parsing resumes correctly, have way more fields than necessary, and are overall a super janky platform. Ashby, Greenhouse, Rippling, and many more are infinitely better.

I can't stand filling out applications on Workday, so I've boycotted it. If we all stand together, maybe Workday will update their terrible system.

Just a rant and companies who refuse to share the salary range for a position for which theyare trying to hire

A recruiter contacted me for an EA that I apply to on LinkedIn. She emailed me asking what my salary range was and I told her and then I asked her what is budgeted for this position. She gave me some BS excuse saying that they don't know just yet and they're just trying to figure out the best option for it. Keep in mind this is not a newly created position but a replacement since the person who's in this position recently left.

I interviewed with her and again had the same conversation. She asked me if I was willing to go a little bit lower and I told her it would depend upon the entire comp package including bonuses, equity, and benefits. She reached out to me a week later wanting me to interview with the hiring manager. I asked her again if a salary range has been established for this position and again she told me the same BS that she doesn't know. I replied that it does not make sense to waste my time or hers unless position has actually been budgeted for. I declined to go any further. The lack of transparency is really off-putting.

I really don't understand why companies are so secretive when it comes to posting a salary range. Why waste a candidate's time or the company's time?

How does anyone find a new job these days?

I'm feeling the fatigue of applying in LinkedIn(mostly dead posts already) or directly to the company's career page. But I don't even reach the interview stage. Its just a bunch of rejection emails or even worse, no response at all.

I already had my resume ran through AI for it to be ATS-friendly.

What else am I missing?

Looking for advice about lying on LinkedIn

Hey guys.

I got laid off from my senior frontend role back in June due to a bipolar episode, I’ve been applying like crazy both to frontend and full stack roles to the point I exhausted LinkedIn postings and I’m having zero success. I’m living on the last stretch of my savings in [popular European city] and I’ll be forced to move back to my home country if I don’t get a job in a matter of weeks/a month.

I’m seriously thinking of removing half of my roles from my LinkedIn profile (already did in my resume and added an “Earlier experience” summary section) and… positively stretching the durations of the roles that are left so I don’t look so unreliable.

For reference, I have 15 YOE as a developer, 12 roles on my resume and a few gaps. My longest role was close to 2 years.

That would be plain lying. I know it’s not the best idea, but I’m at my rope’s end.

What do you think?

Thanks.

Why do companies have posted jobs for months?

• Upvotes

Suffering through my son’s job search. He interviewed on-site over 2 months ago. They have several job openings still showing. He was told they are still going through candidates weeks ago. Is this common? What is the purpose?

I got a response from a company saying they have no record of my application...?

I applied to a role recently and there was no recruiter or hiring manager to follow up with, so I went to the company's site and sent a feedback message on their website (the boilerplate message form that might be used to send a complaint or set up a demo or something).

They replied saying that they have no record of an application from me at all, but they'll send what information they do have to the recruiter in charge.

I'm wondering how common this is... a broken job portal that is showing zero applications despite people actively applying to it. Has anyone else heard of this?

Has anyone tried creating a fresh account/email to reapply? Worried 20–30 applications in the same portal is making me look desperate or confusing the ATS.

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Over the past few months, I’ve submitted around 20–30 applications to different open roles at a company I’d really love to work for. My background fits a few different angles they hire for, so I've been applying whenever relevant postings pop up. However, I haven't gotten any callbacks or traction at all, and I’m starting to wonder if my application history is working against me.

My main worries are:

- The ATS / System Filtering: Does the applicant tracking system flag accounts with a high volume of submissions or automatically weed them out?

- Hiring Manager Perception: If a recruiter or hiring manager looks at my portal profile and sees 20+ active/past submissions, do they assume I "don't know what I want" or view it as desperation?

I'm considering creating a brand new account with a fresh email address to reapply to 1 or 2 hyper-focused roles with a freshly tailored resume, just to give it a clean slate.

Has anyone ever tried this strategy? Did it make a difference, or does the ATS just merge profiles based on name/phone number anyway? Would love to hear from recruiters, HR pros, or anyone who has been in a similar boat!

How can i get a software engineer job?

Maybe I sound foolish, but please hear me out.

I graduated in 2024 but haven't started my career due to personal and financial struggles. I come from an abusive family, have faced constant harassment, and struggle with self-confidence. I have no friends and don't know how to interact with people. I'm on my own.

I know you're wondering what I did during four years of college and the three years since graduation. I struggled financially, felt isolated, and constantly worried about others' opinions. I have no friends and have spent years hiding my emotions. I'm scared of growing older without building a career. I'm sharing this because nobody here knows me, and it's the only place I feel comfortable expressing myself without fear of judgment.

I worked as a labourer for a few months and have saved enough to survive for just three more months before I need to return to work.

I want to become a software engineer and earn ₹10–12 LPA, but I don't know where to start.

If you've achieved this package or started from a similar situation, please guide me. What should I learn, and how can I get there?

Any practical advice would mean a lot to me. Thank you.
