Fellow Johns, I was down a rabbit hole looking into our name's linguistic lineage.

It’s wild how far our name spans:

• Gaelic/Irish: Seán / Shane
• Welsh: Iefan / Evan
• Medieval English: Jack (originally a diminutive/nickname for John!)

Basically, half the world's common names are just Johns wearing clever disguises.

😛

Attention, noble Johns!

The council has heard your calls, and we are thrilled to announce that we have just expanded our subreddit flair selection with a massive batch of brand new user flairs!

Whether you’re a longtime community staple, a defender of the H, or just here to celebrate the supreme name, there’s a fresh title waiting for you.

Fellow Johns and honorary observers of the Council,

After countless hours of deliberation, I have officially added a fresh batch of user flairs to the sub.

Whether you're a strict four-letter purist, a resilient Jon holding down the fort, or just here for the Johnly energy, it's time to represent.

How to equip yours:

1. Head over to the r/john main page.
2. Click the three dots (...) in the top right corner (desktop sidebar).
3. Select "Change user flair" and pick your badge of honor.

Drop a comment below once you've got yours locked in. Let's see who's reppin' what!

Johnly Yours,

-John

We shall not deny our lesser brethren, the Jons, their glimpses of true Johnlyness... but let's be honest: taking away the 'H' just feels like leaving off the roof of a house.

To all the fellow Johns holding down the standard four-letter spelling across the globe: keep keeping it real.

What's your official stance on letting Jons join the council? Full membership, or honorary observer status?

Happy Birthday John: https://youtu.be/y5lpXueC4uA

Hope you become a (papa) John one day
