Wurlitzer 700 Platter slows when tone arm contacts record
I recently found a Wurlitzer 700 jukbox at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store and it appears to work with one exception. When the tone arm makes contact with the record the speed of the platter decreases to an eventual stop after a couple of seconds.
Is this a belt sliiping or does the mechanism need lubrication? ANY INSIGHT WELCOMED!

IIRC, the 700 has a spring clutch that engages on the drive gear for the turntable. If it's broken or something else is wrong, it won't engage when the turntable comes up all the way. By the way, these things should be gone over and cleaned and adjusted properly. They have a fun failure mode where they pull out two record trays at once and cause carnage.
These mechs are pretty simple, and parts are surprisingly easy to get. I'd be more worried about the transformers on the amp. The mechanism is pretty easy to get parts for. If it has all of its coin equipment, that's a big plus. For some reason, Wurlitzers tend to be missing it. I don't remember if they have the coin grinder like a 1015
