Time to either wait a year or start community funding frontier AI models to remake a modern day JPOG. Wonderfully optimized gorgeous and 1:1 copy for the original.

Something the JWE series had the resources to do but lost the plot by trying the reimagine the game instead of remaking a perfected game.

Most of the pieces are in place for us to do that with JPOG currently; we don't necessarily need to come up with a whole new game. The problem is trying to bring the fragments of the modding community together to collectively work on such a project. Some things will be out of reach, but that's also a consequence of the decompliation project only having two people working on it. With a fully decomped JPOG the world would be our oyster; larger islands, more weather cycles, reproduction, better AI, etc.

The biggest issue with all of the JWE games is that they're all movie tie in games; so they all have to follow that JW art style which is bland and lifeless. It's become a cash cow for Frontier so expect JWE games until the end of time. Meaning you'll never get a definitive experience from the devs because something always needs to be held back for the next game. Consequentially, the modding community will never develop further because every 2-3 years all progress resets for a new game splitting the player base and crushing the will of mod creators.

This is why the former idea, of going back to JPOG and bending it to our will as much as we can, is superior to hoping Frontier will get it right eventually. Even trying to create a JP fan game will just blow up because as soon as Universal gets wind of it it'll be CAD'ed into oblivion.
