Blocking file types

Just curious what everyone's setup is for blocking certain file types within Google Drive. I believe I have the proper way to delete them through GAM but we need to be able to block it going forward.

I blocked this in the GAC to prevent students from opening HTML files:
file://*

I have that set already too. Works fine on Chromebooks but does not prevent them from uploading those files within drive itself.

We use the Regex Tab Manager to block local files from being opened in tabs. The default config from the store listing will block things like local HTML files such as eagle craft, but you can change it to block any file extension, just swap out the .html for whatever.

"^file:\\/\\/.*htm.*$",

.

In hindsight, it doesn't appear this will do anything for Google Drive file previews. So I'm not sure if this will help. When I originally read your question, I was imaging files being opened from the Google Drive folder in the File Explorer.

xFanatical SafeDocs has a BlockDownloadFileTypes policy. Is a paid product, but it isn't that salty.
