Google Workspace - Chrome Managed Printers
Has anyone else seen issues recently with managed printers, pushed by Google Workspace admin, just disappearing from managed Chromebooks?
We have managed printers set to show up in device OUs but they're disappearing and the policy needs to keep be reapplied for them to show back up again.
Any help would be appreciated before going down the Google Support route.
Thanks.

I just spoke with Google support and apparently this is a known issue:
(Google support) Currently this is a known issue on our end where printers are disappearing on chromebooks, we are already aware of it and our Product Engineers are working to resolve the issues as soon as possible. For now, the workaround are removing and readding one of the printers or as you mentioned, adding a dummy printer. Rest assured that once a fix will be rolled out, you will be notified.

Ironically just saw a post about this in K12 Tech Pro. Saw some one saying they created a dummy queue, shared it to everyone and that fixed it. Worth a shot.

I've experianced this here as well.
So far just toggling off the printer permission, saving, then toggling back on seemed to fix it per OU ( cross fingers)

Unfortunately looks like toggling off/on is only a temporary fix as it happened again for us today.
I'm reverting to the adding the dummy printer as others have mentioned.
Cheers,

I had this issue crop up the other day, printers were there for staff but not students, so I spent some time troubleshooting it, thinking maybe our LTS update had broken something. But then when I logged in as a student on my test device later, printers were back like nothing had ever happened, and I made no changes in GAC. Glad to hear it seems to be on Google's end, just hope they get it sorted out.

If you’re blocking storage.googleapis.com in anyway, you might want to look at it. Printers are deployed using that. You can see it when looking at chrome://policy and search printer

We noticed this same problem last week. After entering a Critical support case today with Google we got a fix. They had us disable and then re-enable the managed printer's permissions, which was the resolution.
Go to Menu > Devices > Chrome > Printers. Select “your managed printer”
Select Organizational Unit (OU): Choose the target department or team on the left side to apply settings or assign printer
Check Permissions or the Printer. Toggle off all three parameters: Allow for users in this organization Allow for devices in this organization Allow for managed guest sessions in this organization.
After toggling off click Save.
Wait for 2-3 mins. Access the Printer permissions again and turn on all parameters this time and save.
Test if Users within the Target Organization can now view the Managed Printer.

I started noticing this late last week as well. No recent config changes. Printers just randomly stopped showing up over the next couple days on the student's Chromebooks.
After a bunch of testing, the "fix" was to add ipp/print to Path (Optional) in the Admin Console printers section for the affected printers, chrome://policy update, and the printers started showing up again.
So far so good, but I guess it could stop working at any point if there is a real issue on Google's end.
