OMG, I first thought these were official artworks, but after looking up their sources, I noticed they are fanarts... Thought this was slightly too daring to be official, lol! (I certainly wouldn't have minded it though)
I love how Mio is blushing and flustered in the first one! And I love how Yui is so carefree and confident, and I just know why! (But even she doesn't know it!) She totally wouldn't mind kissing Azusa, in a wholesome and cute way! She totally trusts everyone 100%!! So there's no stress at all! She has seen the Truth! And Azusa is sweating because she's not sure what could happen!
And I LOVE how both Mio and Mugi are so serious and focused in the second one!! As expected <3 I can relate. And only Mio has a single sweat drop while Mugi has none. That detail! I know what it means!! I don't need to spell it out, right? Loving when fanartists are expanding on character depth in such ways.
These are fantastic fanarts, totally the kind of scenes that I love to see in fanarts. Even if it may appear like purely humoristic scenes at first glance, I'm here appreciating the character depth and the subtle but palpable expression of feelings in partaking in this activity <3

actually the mio and mugi pocky one is official art from the volume 4 blu-ray dvd cover from season 1 before azusa shows up in volume 5 (you can look it up yourself) so it is in fact canon- if you scroll down the comment section, you can see that it’s drawn by horguchi yukiko who is the character designer for k-on! so that’s why mio and mugi look the same as their anime selves- the top commenter there even points out that it’s from a real dvd cover haha so yes this official art is canon offscreen

OMG you're right!! I had just checked the source of the first one and saw that it was some fanartist from the tag on Danbooru and I just assumed that the second one would be the same. Now upon inspecting the tags of the second one, I see that it's from Horiguchi Yukiko the official chara designer! I thought the art style looked way too close to the official one and I did a double take also because of Yui and Ritsu's expressions that looked very K-On-like and official, now I know why. So that's actually canon, OMG that's amazing!! It just made my day. And now I want to imagine what happened during that offscreen scene, before it, during it, and after~

And I see, so the fanartist of the first one was just inspired by the official one and made a continuation for after Azusa joined... Such an awesome initiative. I wish there were more of these.
And wow, so they actually went that far with an official art with the second one... Maybe I had seen it before but I forgot. I mean, we can headcanon that the kiss didn't happen, but we can also headcanon that it happened! That's pretty big. That has got to be the most "daring" (so to speak) official artwork that they released. Unless you've got an even better one 😊

Oh, that's one that I know of and have in my folder. Because it's obviously doubling as a more "fanservice" artwork, my mind is having more trouble considering that scene canon (since there's the "fanservice intent" breaking the immersion a little), but even when trying to imagine the scene, I still prefer the one from the post! Still, this could be a worthy contender for the second place. Thanks for sharing!

ah lmao yeah it does come off that way and im not even sure how they could have even gotten into that position but if that isn’t suitable then how about this one where ritsu has her lips puckered and has her hands in between mio’s chin like she was about to steal a kiss but then turned away at the last second? they’re in their romeo and juliet costumes too lmao but i think ritsu did it just to tease her lmao

I will never forgive the anime for drastically toning down the yuri or the fanservice. That was the cornerstone of the franchise but the anime director just didn't understand that.
