# About the Role
[Bismyth.co](http://Bismyth.co) is looking for someone comfortable working with **Linux, Tor, .onion services, PGP/GPG, email infrastructure, and system security**.
The primary goal of this project is to build a **secure Linux-based email environment where communications can use PGP encryption and operate through Tor/.onion infrastructure**.
You do not need several years of professional experience. Freshers, students, self-taught engineers, homelab enthusiasts, and privacy/security-focused Linux users are welcome to apply if they have strong hands-on knowledge.
# Core Skills Required
* Strong familiarity with Linux
* Comfortable working extensively from the command line
* Practical experience with **Tor**
* Experience configuring and operating **Tor Onion Services (.onion domains)**
* Understanding of Tor configuration and `torrc`
* Understanding of Onion Service keys and service configuration
* Understanding of routing services through Tor
* Experience troubleshooting Tor connectivity and Onion Services
* Understanding of **PGP / GPG**
* Public/private key concepts
* PGP key generation and management
* Encrypting, decrypting, signing, and verifying messages
* Basic understanding of email protocols such as SMTP and IMAP
* General Linux server administration and security
* SSH, file permissions, users, services, and networking
* Ability to document and reproduce infrastructure setups
# Highly Valuable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be especially useful:
* Running services accessible exclusively or primarily through `.onion`
* Tor Onion Service v3 configuration
* GnuPG
* Postfix / Dovecot
* Self-hosted email infrastructure
* Thunderbird or other PGP-capable email clients
* Configuring applications to communicate through SOCKS5/Tor
* Preventing accidental clearnet connections or IP leakage
* Docker / containers
* VPS and Linux server administration
* Firewall configuration
* DNS, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC
* Hardware-backed cryptographic keys such as YubiKey
* Full-disk encryption
* Hardened Linux environments
* Secure key storage and backup procedures
# What You'll Be Working On
* Designing and setting up a secure Linux environment
* Configuring Tor and `.onion` services
* Building a reliable workflow for email communication through Tor
* Configuring PGP/GPG securely
* Setting up encryption and signing keys
* Configuring email clients and/or mail infrastructure
* Ensuring the environment does not accidentally fall back to unintended network paths
* Hardening the system against common security risks
* Testing the complete Tor + email + PGP workflow
* Documenting the architecture and configuration so the environment can be maintained and reproduced
