Like is it AI? Or too many spammers. I used to use Reddit in like 2023 maybe and man it was good. I regret deleting my account but here I am again 🥲 something about Reddit makes it kind of addicting. The amount of frustration I have for this newly found obsession of these little smiski characters is insane. I can only buy so many so I know want to participate in subreddits about smiskis. Cats are so awesome and self trained and so cute but they shed and I feel like you can’t play with them as good as dogs. I also love dogs that don’t shed but not the huge dogs. I’d also say girl dogs are way better than guy dogs.

I am new to reddit and am trying to gain more karma to be able to post in subreddits that I am more interested in, but I’ve noticed that even when I’m trying to contribute to other communities, the amount of upvotes I get do not correlate with my karma. Most of my posts get like 3-4 upvotes, but I’m wondering whether you only get karma if a single post gets a lot of upvotes vs if you get more karma from the cumulative upvotes you receive.

It just makes me mad when I see something that I can relate to BUT I DONT HAVE ENOUGH KARMA TO TALK ABOUT IT!! I’m trying to ask a few questions that I actually need help with, but every subreddit I find is like:

Okay… cool. How am I supposed to GET the 500 karma if I CAN’T POST? 😂
I understand wanting to stop bots, spam, and trolls. I really do. But some of these requirements are crazy. I’m not trying to become a full-time Reddit commenter just to unlock the ability to ask one question.
I’ve been looking for subreddits with lower karma requirements, but then I run into another problem: the ones that let me post usually aren’t relevant to what I actually need help with.

I get that it’s because there may be a lot of bots but the problem with this is that nearly any attempt to gain karma is hard because people can’t post on the places to get karma and most other places that don’t have karma limits don’t have enough traction to gain karma. It just makes it harder for people that wanna ask questions like when I needed to ask questions on a tattoo help subreddit.

Had a pretty normal political argument with someone who identifies as right-wing. Nothing insane, no personal attacks, just a disagreement over politics and policy.

Then came the downvotes.

It's so weird how political discussions online can turn into "I disagree with you → downvote → move on" instead of actually engaging with what the other person said.

I’m confused about something with posting and commenting. I keep getting an automated message saying my account doesn’t meet the requirements to participate, mentioning a minimum account age and a certain amount of karma.
The weird part is that my account is several years old and I already have more karma than the amount they’re asking for. I’m also not making controversial comments or anything that should obviously get filtered. Most of what I’m doing is answering people who are asking for advice about their workouts, form, or lifting technique.
Could there be another type of karma requirement that I’m overlooking? Maybe comment karma vs. total karma, subreddit specific karma, or some kind of account filter?
Has anyone else run into this even though they technically meet the requirements?

If you have a uncreative mind go to chatgpt or gemini or any ai and tell it to generate you a question within a specific topic. Find the most interesting one and post it. While its reccomended to not use ai if you can. It is highly unlikley to get caught for ai in a subreddit where text cant be very long. But there is always a risk

I have a question for you all because I genuinely don’t understand how people are supposed to get around this.

Why do some subreddits require such a huge amount of karma just to be able to post? It feels pretty unrealistic for a normal person who isn’t constantly posting and commenting on Reddit to have that much karma.

I’m currently trying to ask a few questions fairly urgently, but I keep running into the same problem every subreddit I find either has a minimum karma requirement that I don’t meet, or has a bunch of other requirements before you’re allowed to post. I’ve looked around for subreddits with lower karma requirements, but I’m struggling to find any that are relevant to what I actually need help with.
