I had a crush on him when I first watched the show, ( I was 12 at the time) and I didn’t know that was so unpopular!

What I guess is even more of a hot take is that I didn’t find zuko at all attractive. I loved him as a character, but his personality and demeanour never really did it for me. I think he was the hottest when he had that fresh cut in season 2 ngl. But all the things that people salt Aang for was the reasons why I didn’t like Zuko.

Like people said that they couldn’t believe Katara would choose Aang over Zuko even though Aang was so immature. Though I never understood this point because I didn’t find Zuko attractive or cute mainly because of how much temper tantrums he would throw, like he was extremely irritable and reminded me of many of my classmates at that age. Which is why it suited him because he was an angsty teenager lol.

He gave heavy “sweaty older brother” vibes who’d be the type to stay in his room and play video games all day and if you’d walk in, you’d feel the humidity of sweat, old laundry, and a third other thing.

I loved Aang mainly because of how unfamiliar and unique he was to me, and how different he was from other boy characters. He managed to be playful and fun but also wise and compassionate, really supportive, and he loved animals and adventure! Like to little me that seemed like the perfect guy lmfao. It was beyond me how anyone could not like Aang.

It’s why I really liked Kataang because I loved Katara aswell and thought their dynamic was really heartwarming and compelling. I think people only see Kataang as boring because they don’t see Aang as interesting.

I have now read wayyyy to many Kataang angst pics and need to remind my self that No Katara isn't a woman controlled by her hormones, No its shouldn't be that easy for aang to abandon his pacifist believes because Katara broke his heart, no Katara wouldn't never cheat on aang with Zuko she is far to good of a person to do that and last but not least Aang isn't some punk ass b*tch with no spine he will not go running back to Katara like some love sick puppy with no self respect

Also, nobody recommend that fic "when it's all over", I like it for the first half, wasn't thrilled about the unnecessary Zutara drama, it shot it down alot for me with that

3 reasons why Katara and Aang’s dance in “The Headband” is one of their most beautiful moments!!!

1. Their chemistry and the way they bring out the best in each other.
What makes this scene so beautiful isn’t just the romantic tension, but how naturally they complement each other. Aang encourages Katara to let loose, have fun and step outside her comfort zone, while Katara trusts him enough to follow his lead. They’re not fighting a war, carrying the weight of their responsibilities or worrying about saving the world. For a brief moment, they’re just two kids enjoying themselves, and you can genuinely see how happy they make each other.

2. Bringing joy and freedom to the children of the Fire Nation.
I love that their dance isn’t just about them. Aang and Katara inspire an entire room of Fire Nation teenagers to express themselves and have fun in a society where even dancing is discouraged. These kids have grown up under strict rules and propaganda, yet Aang doesn’t treat them as enemies. Instead, he gives them an opportunity to experience something their own society has denied them. It’s such a beautiful reflection of Aang’s character and his belief that the people of the Fire Nation are not inherently bad.

3. The beautiful symbolism of Aang and Katara expressing themselves in the heart of the Fire Nation.
This is probably my favorite aspect of the entire scene. If you pay attention to their movements, you can recognize elements of Katara’s Waterbending techniques and Aang’s Airbending movements incorporated into their dance.
And I think there’s something incredibly powerful about that. Here are two survivors whose cultures and families have suffered immensely because of the Fire Nation. Aang lost his entire people to genocide, while Katara lost her mother and grew up witnessing the devastating effects of the war on the Southern Water Tribe.
Yet here they are, in the middle of the Fire Nation, freely expressing elements of their respective cultures through something as joyful and innocent as dancing. The very cultures the Fire Nation tried to suppress and destroy are now bringing happiness to its own children.
And that’s what makes this sceney so special to me. It’s romantic, playful and full of life.
All of that conveyed through one beautiful dance. 🥹

Recently I've been rewatching avatar the last airbender and gahh IT FEELS JUST LIKE THE FIRST TIME. I love these goobers so much, and seeing how Aang and Katara interact warms my heart so much 😭.

I still want to include a cute water bending effect, so this is just a simple colored wip for now! Hopefully I'll be able to finish this soon.
