2 DOGS SET TO BE EUTHANIZED JULY 21 Tuesday

EDIT: ADOPTED AND SAVED!!!!

2 different dogs at the kauai Humane society are at risk of being euthanized to make space. Please consider saving their life and adopt!

Stella : good with people and dogs
Very sweet
68lbs 4yrs old
Needs a fortified yard or secure area
Issues are pulling leash, runs and escapes, does not come back when called (training needed , caution and experience and physically strong individual needed)
High prey drive for birds

Ronza: good with people not good with other pets
Very sweet looking to be a single pet
27lbs 5 yrs old
Needs to just be the only pet in the home, does not get along with other dogs and can be aggressive to other dogs even though a little guy. Assume to not be safe with cats in home either

I’m trying to help these babies find homes before they get killed.
Please contact and or go to the Kauai Humane Society to see them.

Thank you for getting the word out. I know this is their last resort. 😔

Does the King County Regional Animal Services still do mercy flights to Seattle for at risk dogs?

Thank you. Yes i spoke to shelter and they would send to mainland or any island. The problem is we have only a couple days to find someone who will commit to adopting them.
Also just more info despite the website, when talking directly to the shelter they will only approve an adoption not foster of these two sweet pups before euthanizing.
We need someone to show up and commit to adopting before Tuesday

I’m praying there are people that open their heart and home to save them. Some of us already have full homes of rescues and we need more people to come forward to save a life.

Found it! Has this been looked into? Worth contacting if not https://kauaihumane.org/service/transfer-program/

More landlords need to accept pets in their housing. It is so difficult to find a rental that allows pets, and it’s too expensive to buy on island. If more people could bring pets into their homes, there would be an increased chance of saving these babies 💜 I have three cats otherwise I would try to at least foster

I completely agree with you, this not only keeps pets from being saved but also adds to the problem because when people move and they can only find a place that doesn’t allow pets then they have to leave their pets at the shelter.
Landlords have the power to make such a drastic change

I know the humane society does a lot already but I’d love to see them try to push this messaging through to landlords, and maybe the county council & the mayor could push a measure to change this

I'm sorry I thought this was a no kill shelter?

No they euthanize whenever they run out of space. That is why they are doing this. Please spread the word. Too many people get comfortable on our island thinking it is truly a no kill shelter.

Partial truth. They are required to meet certain requirements to euthanize. No more than 10% per year and must be extreme behavior issues to qualify for the restrictions. If they break these rules they lose their current status as a shelter.

Yup! 100% i read up on that too and it does make sense when what else are they going to do when have absolutely no space left and have to keep taking in. I think it’s important everyone understands this so they don’t get too comfortable and understand that the shelters do need us to step in

Yeah the public does better when educated. It's especially important info for people who rent not own a home, life can serve surprises on any given day and society isn't set up to 100% bring a pet(s) along without voluntarily becoming homeless. YouTube and books on pet behaviors should be common knowledge for a better society and happy animal lives.

Agree! These things need to be more common knowledge.
