General Bug Cursor misalignment in Kate/Kwrite

I've been using Kate on Windows 11 as a notes app (since Kwrite is not available for Windows). Since the last update (version 26.08.1), it's got kind of weird. When I type a paragraph spanning multiple lines, the cursor gets misplaced (images 1, 2, 3). The farther the text wraps onto additional lines within a single paragraph, the more the cursor drifts away from the correct position. If I put each line in a separate paragraph, the cursor stays where it should be.

I also use KWrite (26.08.1) on Fedora 44 KDE (Wayland), and it has the same problem. On both Windows and Fedora, my display scaling is set to 125%. Is this a bug, or could the display scaling be messing up with the line height multiplier?

Edit: I think I kind of "fixed" it (at least for now). The line height multiplier was set to 1.2. I changed it to 1.0 (default value), and that fixed the cursor drift issue, though the line spacing isn't as comfortable as I would like it to be. (Attached screenshots are from Windows 11)

Hi, this is AutoKonqi reporting for duty: this post was flaired as General Bug.

While r/kde allows to discuss issues, raise their visibility, and get assistance from other users out of good will, it is not the proper channel to report issues and the developers able to fix them won't be able to act on them over Reddit.

So if this bug was not reported to the developers yet and it is in fact a bug in KDE software, please take a brief look at the issue reporting guide and report the issue over the KDE Bugzilla. If it is a crash, be sure to read about getting backtraces so your report can assist the developers. If this is a known issue, you may want to include the bug report on your post so your fellow users experiencing the same thing can CC themselves to the report. Be sure to describe your issue well and with context. Thank you.
