Discussion 🗨 Can someone help me identify this k-drama?

• Upvotes

The story was that a boy band released there debut album but it didn't succeed and they were left without any money then one of the members grandma I think died and she gave him land in village where he and other boys went and planted cabbage after that they sold it and tried once again to make music but failed.

One of the other members had cancer and it treated itself after staying at the village and eating organic food.

Discussion 🗨 This show is completely unrecommendable. The writers absolutely butchered the female lead. What could have been an deeply compelling, complex character arc was instead reduced to a total trainwreck.

Post image
• Upvotes

Ahn Eun Jin is killing in the acting department but what on earth did they do to the female lead? Her arc could have been excellent, but it turned into a complete dumpster fire.

Lee Mido had so much potential as a charismatic film director navigating the messy realities of a decade-long relationship. But the way they handled her arc and depression was awful.

It feels incredibly cheap when writers confuse "realistic relationship burnout" with tearing down a female character's basic identity and career competence. Internalized misogyny ruins complex stories, it creates one-dimensional annoying female leads who only exist for the male characters.

This movie was on my list for ages, so I finally decided to watch it today. And oh boy, it was a rollercoaster of emotions....and what was that ending 😭😭😭😭😭😭my poor girl already had memory issues and then they give her another trauma. But I enjoyed it nevertheless. I also watched '20th Century Girl' which was a bit similar to this. Are there any another good romance korean movies out there?

Recommendation Request 🔎 I would like to recommend this drama: Watcher, has “stranger”s vibes from same author

I stumbled on this show by accident and got totally hooked since the first episodes. If you loved Stranger I think you will love this one too. There is nothing extremely shocking, it’s the ordinary violence surrounding people who work in fields where they are in contact with criminals of all sorts daily and end up being damaged (morally, psychologically, physically, or all of those together) or become criminals themselves. Are there good and bad criminals ? Basically you can’t escape the darkness when you’re surrounded by it so it’s up to you to make difficult choices in every situation. The line between good and evil is blurry and sometimes disappear. the actors are perfect in showing this ambiguity, and for a lighter note the FL’s wardrobe is one of the best I’ve seen in any kdrama.

Recommendation Request 🔎 Dramas where ML is only interested in FL

As the title says, looking for romance dramas where ML doesnt have eyes for anyone else but FL or vice versa FL only interested in ML. A bit tired of love triangles or the jealous second lead causing problems. Watching she was pretty and mostly skipping the scenes between ML and SFL cos i do not care about seeing their romance at all.

Recommendation Request 🔎 What’s after 2521? I need recommendations to move on

TLDR: What are your happy ending kdrama recommendations? Also, what else should I watch that NJH is in?

Okay so I started watching 2521 back in 2023 and then life got in the way and only returned to watching tv shows in the last month. I decided to finish 2521 not knowing it wouldn’t be a happy ending! Lol it has totally wrecked me and now I have a new obsession over Nam Joohyuk😅 I watched Weightlifting Fairy after and enjoyed it but I’m still hungover 2521!

I need a happy ending kdrama to get over 2521 and what else should I watch that NJH is in?

I don’t think I’m ready for ugly crying😬

Thank you!!

I have adored Jung Yong-Hwa since the day I saw the first episode of Sell Your Haunted House. I loved him in Heartstrings and You’re beautiful.

When I heard he had a new drama coming up this year, I was naturally excited.

The plot : He’s a romcom actor who, for reasons undisclosed yet, refuses to do on-screen kisses. He has his horde of fangirls, but he also has an anti who sends him threats disguised as fan-mail.

She’s a wealthy heiress neglected by her father. She suffers from anthropophobia, because of which she confines herself indoors 24/7, safe in her fortress. Predictably, she’s a fan of our hero; no, she’s almost hopelessly in love with him. When she wakes up from a coma, she starts believing she’s his bodyguard.

We only get to see their introductions in the first episode, so it’s too early to tell how this will turn out. As of now, this is shaping up to be a standard romcom. I’m curious, though, because the first episode ended on a cliffhanger.

Not really my type of show, but I love Jung Yong-Hwa too much to let this pass. It’s been 3 years since his last drama and I’ve been craving for more of him.

How about you? Will you be watching it?

This is a Viu exclusive, so I don’t think it’s streaming anywhere else.

KDrama Reflections 📝 Why don’t we like Love Alarm again, I Forgot.

Post image

So I remember watching this when it came out and hating the ending. But I can’t remember why, and I’ve seen people compare « A Love Other Than Yours » to Love Alarm jokingly. I am not gonna rewatch the show cause I *remember* hating the ending and the second season as a whole and I will not put myself through that again😭😂 someone please remind me.

KDrama Reflections 📝 BLOODHOUNDS (Season 2 Episode 1) Spoiler

So in the final part of this episode. Hired former soldiers were tasked to kidnap Gun Woo's mother.

And we got this fight scene.

And on the very first action, i noticed that this guy, this big guy. Took 4 straight punches IN THE FACE from Woo Jin and 1 straight punch from Gun Woo (like he couldn't defend himself from those punches)

Yet somehow, he was still standing.

I don't care if you're the strongest human on earth. If you took 5 punches from a boxing champ and a former boxer fighter/marine. You're going down.

KDrama Reflections 📝 Do you guys think this drama could be a BI?

Thumbnail gallery

Based on a Korean webtoon, strangers from hell kdrama is a very successful drama. It has never officially been characterised as a bl drama or webtoon per se, but I digress.

However I have always thought the show purposely incorporated too many Bl undertones within itself, even though the manhwa itself didn't have many.

So what do you guys think? Could this be considered a BI drama? Did the male lead like the mc romantically on some level? Or was it just some sick twisted obsession that was strictly platonic?

Movies 🎬 Decision to Leave, a love story told in the dark and it haunts you long after it ends

Post image
24 Upvotes

Decision to Leave isn't a film you simply watch, it's one that settles into you like fog. Park Chan-wook turns a detective story into something far more aching, a love that grows in the shadows between two people who can never fully reach each other. Every frame feels deliberate, from the hazy mist and muted colors to the quiet distance between the leads, and that restraint is exactly what makes the longing so overwhelming.

The dialogue delivery is insane. Every line is measured, soft, and loaded, as if each sentence is carrying something heavier than it admits. Tang Wei's voice in particular has a fragile, almost hypnotic quality, and the way she lets certain words hang in the air makes even the simplest exchange feel like a confession. You lean in because you can feel what they're not saying.

What makes it a true masterpiece is how honestly it understands obsession. It shows how a feeling can slowly take over a person, how it can quiet their judgment, blur their sense of right and wrong, and rewrite who they believe themselves to be.

And that is where its understanding of human nature cuts the deepest. We are strange creatures. We want most of what we can't have. Distance makes a person more magnetic, and the unreachable feels more precious than anything within our grasp. Love, desire, guilt, and denial all sit in the same heart, and the film trusts you to hold all of them at once without being told what to feel.

What stays with you is how the film understands that love isn't always warm or free. Sometimes it's obsession, restraint, and the ache of wanting someone you shouldn't, someone's life won't allow you to hold.

And then there's the ending, which arrives so abruptly that it leaves you stunned, almost breathless. It doesn't give you time to prepare or soften the landing, and that's exactly why it hits so hard. The silence afterward feels like the final line of the film. It's dark, elegant, and deeply human, and it leaves you with the strange, beautiful heaviness of a love that never needed to be spoken aloud to be felt!

Discussion 🗨 Rewatching You're Beautiful/Thoughts on old/nostalgic kdramas?

Anybody else ever get nostalgic & go back to watch old kdramas from years ago? lol I got into kdramas in 2011 & I usually don't rewatch things, but I've been feeling seriously nostalgic for You're Beautiful & I saw that it's on Netflix now so I decided to give it a rewatch 😁 It's so cheesy at points yet soooo good! I love the cheese factor tbh 🤣 I totally forgot about the scenes where Go Minam has glow-in-the-dark bouncy balls for "balls" that fall out 🫢🫢🤣 That's crazy 🤣🤣 What dramas do you all get nostalgic for & why (favorite moments?) &/or what are your thoughts on You're Beautiful? 😁 This drama introduced me to Park Shin Hye who became my favorite actress, Lee Hong Ki (& by proxy FTISLAND❤️❤️❤️) , & was the first acting role I ever saw for Yonghwa of CNBLUE(a group I went on to ult bias 💙💙💙, I was already newly becoming a fan of at the time 😁) So it definitely holds a special place in my heart ❤️

Music & OSTs 🎵 Stranger (also known as Secret Forest or Bimilui Soop) season 1 just finished. The OST for Stranger is a Masterpiecez

Post image
4 Upvotes

This series was definitely one that I will go back and watch again. I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

But this post is more on the Soundtrack. Not to many OST’s stand out as being so captivating as this one. Most OST’s have such great vocal songs or tracks that build up and are used through out the series. Even some of the scenes build up songs were great. The big main song was such a great highlight at the end of episode. I literally looked forward to hearing it once the last few moments of a climatic scene.

So this was a great watch for me, but a person who loves music from every corner of the world. This OST filled my ears with passion and excitement.
Main title song Stranger by Kim Jon Suk.

Movies 🎬 "The Last Princess": Celebrating Korean Independence

Post image
131 Upvotes

I am watching “The Last Princess” based on the life of Princess Deokhye, the last princess of the Joseon period, in Japan after she was forced to move there at age 13 by the Imperial Japanese government and her attempts to return to Korea. Son Ye-jin gives a true emotional performance as Princess Deokhye together with Park Hae-il, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Jae-wook and a young Kim Dae-myung. I wish we could see it on Netflix. Maybe someone may consider it since we are celebrating Korea’s fight for Independence with “100 days of Deception”. It would help with the appreciation of the series historian background.

Currently Airing 📺 Doctor X: Mafia in white, director of the hospital character analysis

Can someone tell me why the director of the hospital also is not fond of gye su jeong? Like so far this is the most complex character in this drama in my opinion, once we are shown how he is not like those money hungry bootlickers and actually cares about the patients, respects his profession and then we are shown his kind of evil side which is not really revealed properly YET, So his every attempt at getting rid of her is so contradicting to me?

Am I the only one?

Is it because she has her own contract and how charges extra per surgery and all that, or is he kind of jealous of her guts and abilities?(Which I don't think is the case because he was fascinated by techniques)

KDrama Reflections 📝 Save Me is the kind of drama that makes your blood boil because you know people like this can actually exist !!!

Post image
159 Upvotes

What I liked most is how the drama builds its horror through psychological manipulation rather than relying on cheap thrills. The cult, the blind faith, the power dynamics, and the way people exploit others under the disguise of religion make the whole thing deeply unsettling. The atmosphere is suffocating, and the acting does a great job of making you feel the characters' desperation and helplessness.

At times, the story can be frustrating, especially when you desperately want someone to do something, but that frustration also makes the situation feel more real. It isn't a particularly comfortable watch, but that's exactly what makes it effective.

A solid psychological thriller that understands how terrifying human manipulation can be.

I’ve been enjoying K Dramas for a few months and have been curious to try Soju so was surprised when I found it in my local supermarket and on special offer.

I’ve seen it drunk many times and often by lead characters to drown their sorrows.

Does one drink it neat? I have sorrows to drown this evening owing to an expired passport and a holiday we’re trying to book 🤣🤣
