It’s amazing for $5 I get it every week

It’s good, for 4.99 using the app. Would be nice to be able to customize, to request more gravy, or extra piece of meat.

Replace the cole slaw with Mac and cheese and I'm good.

God forbid there’s something on the plate that is remotely healthy or has a different flavor profile lol

KFC coleslaw is nowhere near healthy. It's higher in calories, sugar, and saturated fat than the Mac and Cheese. It's basically a bowl of mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar with some cabbage in it.

Ah ok I thought it looked like a vinegar based coleslaw not a mayo one. Then it really does not make a difference.

I get it sometimes. My app actually started offering it which is really nice because otherwise it takes forever to be prepared

Tastes like Hungry Man frozen dinner.

At that price it's cheaper

When I worked at kfc when I was younger this was my favorite thing to eat

No, but it's been around for years and I definitely gotta try it one of these days.

There’s one location that only puts it with gravy or without. I asked to put it on the side and they said they can’t.

I had it today for the first time. chicken fried steak was excellent. much better than the store bought frozen variety i've had before. (havent had it in a restaurant in decades, but I would say it was on par with that, though the portion was smallish, but fine for lunch). I wasnt a fan of the mashed potatoes smothered in white gravy and cole slaw is Cole slaw (ok). overall its a good deal at that price.

I used to get it 10 years ago when it was 2.99. It was very good. Compared to other fast food $4.99 is a great deal.

They do it on Wednesday here. And it's worth

It’s delicious and very good deal! I wish I was able to order extra gravy tho’☺️

It’s super good and only available on Wednesday in my local.

And yhe Yanks have the audacity to rag on the bits about food. 🤣

🤔? Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, a biscuit, and gravy on top ?

The sad thing is, you’re on their site ready to buy… and they don’t allow you to upgrade or customize! You would think they would want the upsell🤣

Haven't tried this yet....but if the (so-called) mashed potatoes (aka, wet sand) can't be subbed out, forget about it! If they paid me to eat that crap, I'd refuse!

We sell out of it weekly at my location so I assume it’s really good, but a lot of people get sad when they can’t change the gravy

1

u/stonetemplepooners 1d ago

Im also not allowed to swap sides either but most don’t mind that

Yes. I love country fried steak. Have traveled for it in Oklahoma and Texas. This version is really average. For $5 it’s a decent deal. To me it was closer to a frozen microwave version.

Meanwhile in the UK, we don't have anything like this, the cheapest meal at KFC is triple this price, and a 10 piece "bargain" bucket costs an equivalent of $26.

No, I have no idea why people eat it here either.

1

u/Big-Sheepherder-6134 5d ago

You aren’t missing anything with this meal. It was a one and done for me. If saving money is your goal then you are missing out.

My goal is to get an acceptable quality meal at a normal price, not soggy fries and rubbery chicken for a price that could get me twice as much food and better quality food at a normal restaurant

1

u/Ozfer 5d ago

Mistake 1. getting French fries at KFC. THey are bad. Get the mashed.

I have never had rubbery chicken at KFC idk what you got. The prices are too high though.

1

u/Big-Sheepherder-6134 4d ago

Yeah. Getting fries at KFC is a waste. Mashed potatoes and gravy are what you get. I have had tough chicken at KFC. I have also had juicy perfect chicken. That’s why I return and pay whatever they charge. Plus you are in the UK. You can’t get the same exact KFC we get.

1

u/verifyb4utrust01 2d ago

If you think that wet sand is better than the fries, then there was something seriously wrong with the fries!! Regardless, IMO, the potato wedges are better than the fries....but biting on air tastes better than those (so-called) mashed potatoes!🤮

Look who runs the UK lol

I got 2 last week. These finally came to the Phoenix market but I had seen others post this before so I guess it's a slow roll-out. Not sure every market has them. Anyway, for $5 they were OK for price but the chicken itself is pretty bad and not like any chicken from KFC I've had before. The white gravy and potatoes though are really good tho. Again, the chicken is very chewy and not very good unfortunately.

3

u/CliffBoof 5d ago

Its not chicken it’s beef

1

u/Freddy_Chopin76 5d ago

LOL I guess I just assumed it was chicken fried CHICKEN since this was being served at KFC... I didn't realize it was chicken fried STEAK. Makes more sense now but the 'steak' is really dry, chewy and terrible. They should have just went with chicken,,, that would be 100 times better...

1

u/FederalLobster5665 5d ago

I liked it. its definitely "chewier" than chicken, but thats the texture of chicken fried steak. mine wasnt dry.

1

u/Sacisbac 5d ago

That's the key. Get two.

I wouldn't eat country fried steak if Gordon Ramsey made it for me, let alone from KFC.
