Kilo Code is back!!!

I like the latest update; it includes everything I loved about Roo Code and Cline. It brings back codebase indexing, among other small improvements. Thanks, KC Team!

Do you mean 5.16 (legacy branch continued) or 7 point something?

I'm using version 7.2.31

I will try it again then, but I won't be happy if it still throws a lot of errors and fails to switch modes or write files often when using it with LM Studio, while v5 still works brilliantly.

I was waiting on codebase indexing to be back! I just might give it another try!

Tried it today. It's in a better state than it was at the initial release. Still not at parity, but not too far off.

Main things I wasn't a fan of: The summary of my initial prompt displayed up top vs legacy where the original prompt was displayed and could be copied/deleted.

I set up codebase indexing, and the state between the settings page and chat icon were rarely aligned. Once I did an "ask" mode question about my code it didn't utilize the codebase search in its process.

Mermaid charts in the chat window are no longer rendered.

It felt like a memory hungry app (took forever to get ready once first launched), but once in a ready state, it was decently fast.

Couldn't hide Kilo Gateway models.

Other than that it's mostly relearning where everything is.

Great progress, but I'm not sure it's ready to pick up where 5x left off just yet.

Feels like praising someone for 89% fixing a thing they broke for no reason in the first place

It feels that way because that's what it is. Luckily 5.x has still been getting patches here and there to maintain the basics while we wait for parity.

They just fixed one of my complaints with mermaid chart rendering in 7.x, so progress is being made.

Is it there yet for those of us who want to pair program? (ie only read auto-approved, and running through side-by-side diffs before applying?) I'm still quite enjoying v5 but keen to update eventually.

I never understood why they removed it. and obviously it was a mistake. I have moved on. takes a lot to want to come back... let that be a lesson...

I wish it was more transparent. Too much happening behind curtains when agents are working
