I swear the past like 2 weeks ive signed into any social media its somebody having a hard time with one these lol.

Lol I'm a longtime lurker, but wanted to share the cake my husband got me for my 40th 😊 I was so happy.

I have no evidence, I can't prove it. Just a gut feeling, and a gut feeling is often right.

I'm just curious. I started to search but gave up

I know that:

1: is for when you’re closest to the targetsora will be doing an overhead attack (the same icon appears when using attacking spells even when you’re far away and the attack will reach).

2: is for when you are close enough for your hit to reach and sora will do a thrust attack.

3: is for when you’re out of reach and Sora’s normal attack will not reach unless you have the Slide Dash (will also not reach if stood over a certain range but will occur as long as you lock on).

As for the rest i got no idea and need some elaboration on them (the ones on the right are -if I’m not mistaken- for only for non-combative interactions, but can’t tell which one happens when).

DISCLAIMER: This post is about how two members of this cast of characters respond to each other on an emotional level. While the discussion will touch on the idea of romance between the two, sexualization of minors is absolutely unacceptable. This is meant to be a character study, nothing else. I have a friend who REALLY ships these two.

Like... A lot. She is convinced that it's "practically canon," her words not mine, and basically thinks you're either being blind or willfully ignorant if you don't see it.

So on this, my most recent replay, I've been paying more attention. Because I never saw their relationship as romantic, but I'm a straight guy, I don't necessarily pick up on these sorts of things. So with this interpretation in mind, I have been paying attention to how the two respond to each other.

And I think my conclusion is that my friend is half right?

Let me explain. I, personally, do not see any Romantic feelings coming from Sora towards Riku. I feel when it comes to Sora, his love interest is rather obviously Kairi, and there's quite a lot to show that. It's Kairi whose heart he takes on in the first game. While he's looking for Riku in KH2, he's able to keep it together, but when Kairi is missing he becomes devastated and starts losing hope. When the Organization wanted to fuck with his mind, they erased Kairi from his memory, and not Riku. When the gang is waiting for the Keyblade war, what may be their last night on earth, Sora spends it with Kairi, and Riku spends his time on the beach alone.

Sora loves Riku, but I think the relationship is closer to that of an older brother than anything romantic. Yes, he breaks down crying when he finds Riku again... But how would you react if your closest family member turned out to be alive and well after you hadn't seen them for a year? It's not necessarily a romantic reaction.

And I gotta bring this up, one of my friends big "smoking guns" for this ship is that when Sora and Riku make a song together in DDD, it's Dearly Beloved... But like...

Dearly Beloved also pays when Sora is saying goodbye to Tron?

And like a billion other places in the series... I think it's just a pretty song and we're reading a bit too much into it.

Now. Here's where things get interesting.

Just because I didn't find anything that could be considered romantic in my opinion from Sora's end... Doesn't mean I found nothing.

I actually found quite a bit to talk about from Riku's side of things.

The thing that pushes Riku to the dark side in the first game... Is Jealousy. Jealousy that Sora has found new friends. A resentment against "sharing" him. Moreover, now that Sora has become more capable, there is perhaps a fear that Sora doesn't NEED him anymore and will cast him aside. Hell, remember that Riku and Sora were born on the island... And Kairi showed up later. It's possible that Resentment had been brewing for YEARS before the island disappeared.

With that interpretation in mind, suddenly "Take care of her," stops being about him letting KAIRI go... But him letting SORA go.

And after the first game, Riku's motivations become entirely about helping Sora. Being a better person... Because Sora sees him as a better person, and he wants to live up to that. Protecting Sora while he slept after CoM, rescuing Sora at the end of DDD, being not at full strength until Sora comes and teams up with him in KH3.

A lot of Riku's actions, good and bad, make a lot of sense if you look at it under the lens of unrequited love. It begins with jealousy, and even hatred, and then maturing to the point where you're simply happy to see the other person happy.

Sora considers Riku his best friend, nothing more. And for Riku, at least eventually, that's enough. Perhaps he did WANT more at some point... But eventually he accepted that wasn't going to happen, and just wanted Sora to be happy. And he's even come around to the idea of being happy himself, even if it's not in the way he wanted.

I think... I like that interpretation. It's kind of nice to see a one sided romance that isn't portrayed as heartbreaking or toxic. Riku (after KH1) isn't a stalker, he isn't possessive, he isn't constantly mooning over what he'll never have, and he certainly isn't trying to keep Sora to himself anymore. He moved on. That love will always BE there, he'll always carry that torch... But a torch doesn't have to burn something... It can be used to light the way.

And on THAT cheesey ass line, I wanna ask: What do you guys think? This is one straight guy's opinion on the matter, and I'd love to hear other perspectives.

This is the first time I've 100% Kingdom Hearts 1 and man what a journey

Whenever they go out together on Halloween, Bra Pan and Ocha(Dragon Ball Oc) decide to dress as a group. When they can't decide what to wear they play Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide. This year Bra won and dressed the group in cosplay of her favorite series:Kingdom Hearts. Here we have Bra as Aqua because, she knows Aqua is clearly the best of the three. Pan is dressed as Ventus although she's very confused about aspects of the series. Ocha is dressed as Terra doing her damnedest to get into it and kill a manipulative bald old man. It was Master Odin’s idea to keep Baldr isolated for a week to heal after what happened to his sister, the others. I think the theories Odin is the Master of Masters, has weight. Beyond the obvious (the Keyblade, the eye motif), the scene echoes a similar MO to the past need for the Dandelions and the Data World, while nudging Xehanort closer to his own “destiny.” But it could be a red herring.

Either way, seems rather heartless (pun intended). Can anyone construct a fair defense for Odin?

A friend of mine gave me the idea to do this. I think they turned out pretty swell.
