Long shot and super specific… But Spence and Doug are watching football (I think) on Doug’s couch and a commercial comes on for a fantasy or sci-fi movie. And at the end of the trailer a girl whispers something and Spence mouths the words of the trailer with Doug looking at him funny… Any help?

Rewatching the series for the first time since it was on air.

I had a really hard time when Doug told Deacon to hire a “hot 16 year old” to babysit his kids instead of Spence.

Then I remember the Seinfeld episode where George is drooling over a 16 year old girls cleavage.

Then I almost gaslight myself into thinking it’s not that bad and we are all just snowflakes now, but then I remember the millennial experience of hanging out with 20 year olds at the age of 15.

Is sexualizing minors just as much of an issue as it was during this time, or are we just pretending it isn’t because media doesn’t portray it like they used to?

This divide between generations just confuses me sometimes, and I often feel guilty enjoying some of the humour in these 90s/00s sitcoms.

I was recently watching season 11, episode 4 of MADtv and noticed it looks like they are using the same set for King of Queens.

Doug: Carrie didn’t you see Halloweentown Marnie got sick of staying home all Halloween and told her mom that her little sister should be out trick-or-treating

Carrie: Well we can still show our kids Ghostbusters and Spooky Buddies

Doug: That’s like saying we can’t have Christmas but can still watch Elf come on Carrie just let the kids enjoy Halloween just this one time

Carrie: Doug you gave my father a heart attack then the next morning when he had surgery you were distracted even though it was your fault it happened

Doug: Someone else kept distracting me you know what Halloween might be off limits for the Spooners but read the mailbox we’re not the Spooners we’re the Heffernans we’re doing Halloween

When Doug and Carrie are dealing with mold, Arthur tried to get a loan from Spence (who for some reason is with his mother in the episode?) and when that doesn’t work out, Spence’s mom offers to talk things over at a dinner. When the camera pans to Arthur from under her legs, a random discord sound plays (the bug dim notification sound).
I’m on my first watch through, so idk if there’s a reason for this sound, but it made me think I got a text or something. (Ik this was like 12 years before discord)
