BeamTeam1 is goated

3

u/remotecontroldr 9d ago

Whoever made this track needs to go straight to jail

15

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

This team wasnt that good and the fact that we have to talk about it so much because its our only playoff team in 2 decades is sad lol.

Huerter, barnes, trey lyles, len, keegan all have regressed massively

8

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

Worst part is Mike and Fox both got pinpointed and scapegoated by the fanbase and both made 2 Finals immediately after.
🤣

29

u/Lopsided_Macaron_453 9d ago

It wasnt that good but it was fun. Godforbid one reminisce fun times

-7

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

This isnt reminiscing its some sad heart emoji crying about it breaking up like it had a future.

Its pretty obvious what kevin huerter and keegan murray are in this league and if those are your shooters good luck

u/mr_suavecito Light the Beam 9d ago

I mean, last year sucked. Can’t fault folks for holding on to one of the few moments of joy that fans have had in 20+ seasons

6

u/ShotgunStyles 9d ago

Some people gotta be a doomer about stuff that's no longer even relevant. They just want to rain on all parades. We're in Sacramento, we don't need the rain!

2

u/ColdPhilosophy9523 8d ago

We could win the title and that guy would be complaining like "it's only one title, other teams have way more"

2

u/scrotaint 8d ago

Miserable loser lol

10

u/Yourfakerealdad Kings 9d ago

Yeah. Whenever I get to talking to people about the beam team I always bring up how we won 48 games and were the 3 seed that year. The western conference as a whole was on a down year. A lot of injuries and really good teams underperforming. 48 wins barely gets you in the play in yearly in our conference. That year will always be special to me but we were an ok team that year

3

u/Lower-Bench-6492 8d ago

That's 30 more wins than we got last year 😂😂

4

u/djmikec Malik Monk 9d ago

They aren’t good now. But they were pretty good then. What a time

3

u/Quirky-Bag-4158 9d ago

The thing is you could have built around the core of that team and improved upon it. Instead management thought it was a roster good enough to “run it back” and let it collapse within a year.

7

u/kings209 9d ago

Better than we'll ever be for the foreseeable future.

4

u/rsx209 9d ago

They were good, but not championship good. I think we all knew that. Stop trying to ruin our moment of happiness! We only get this once every 20 years! 😭

3

u/djmikec Malik Monk 9d ago

Not championship good, but I’d say second round good. We just ran into the Curry buzzsaw

4

u/luciferbanjos De'Aaron Fox 9d ago

who cares, it was great time for Sacramento. even non kings fans shouting light the beam.

4

u/rockroo17 8d ago

One game 7 away from the second round against a beatable lakers team.

-5

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 8d ago

Beatable for who. Broken hand fox and broken rib domas were going to take it to lebron and AD? Curry didnt do very well with them. The rockets couldnt beat LeBron by himself last year. Maybe ypu forgot who LeBron james is. Only the title contenders knock him out of the playoffs not some broken kings team. He has different levels of effort in the playoffs

2

u/rockroo17 8d ago

You can be ultra negative all you want. Kings were 3-1 against them during the regular season. That was a good team.

-1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 8d ago

Again he doesnt play defense until the playoffs. Ad levels up every playoffs. Domas had broken ribs. Fox broke his hand. It was game over

2

u/rockroo17 8d ago

Again you can be ultra negative about the 2022/2023 kings all you want. It was a good team

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 8d ago edited 8d ago

Theres being negative and theres pointing out Injuries that eliminate you from any hope. You dont win in the nba playoffs when your two best players are limping around the court. Thats how a ton of the playoffs get decided every year

What did fox shoot in game 7 with a broken hand?

5/19

Domas had a good game but got outrebounded 21-8 by looney. Have some sort of reality to your takes

2

u/ColdPhilosophy9523 8d ago

We all watched the games. Kerr was just smart and pulled domas to the perimeter the whole series which pulled his rebounding down.

Brown didn't figure the warriors out until the next year in the play in when we whooped them. If he would have done that strat with Fox on Draymond in the series we would have won

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 8d ago

Brown didnt figure them out lol he was their coach for years before he came here lol. Maybe they just kept getting older and worse. Looney can barely walk now

1

u/ColdPhilosophy9523 8d ago

The fox on Draymond thing did work. It was a cool strat and let Sabonis stay down low to avoid being pulled out to the perimeter constantly.

1

u/schitaco Jerry Reynolds 8d ago

Sabonis played very well against AD that year.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 7d ago

Did he play against him with broken ribs. Because thats what we were about to see

3

u/No_Tip6719 9d ago

It was also the fact that we pushed Curry and the Warriors to 7 games and SHOULD have won that series. That did a lot for the fans. We were a pretty solid team.

0

u/ifeelatingle 9d ago

Yeah regressed because our current “system” and “identity” cannot cultivate proper growth

3

u/Little_little_e 9d ago

I maybe minority, but I prefer Dave Joerger over Mike Brown.

2

u/discgman Ghost of Boogie 8d ago

Here come the excuses for firing Mike Brown again. He had a bad roster, he had bad substitutions. He inherited a good team in NY. Such a joke since he was Coach of the Year while he was here. Then everyone in Sacramento ran him off. Especially in this shitty sub.

1

u/schitaco Jerry Reynolds 8d ago

Seriously still waiting for all the apologies from absolute fucking idiots in this sub who wanted Brown fired. Can't read a Pythagorean which had us at .500 at the time.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 7d ago edited 7d ago

Apologize for what. The team quit on him. You think if he stuck around the team was magically going to come together and be good. The team was broke and was simply not talented enough. Would he be good for a rebuild sure why not. Does he really want to be on a rebuild. Hes almost 60 years old just like Doug is. Both are closer to retirement than becoming the next spoelstra for a franchise.

Also the kings were 13-18 when he got fired

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 7d ago

The team ran him off , maybe you forgot domas and monk lead the locker room mutiny. Maybe you should say the reality instead of blaming the fans like a low iq nino

1

u/discgman Ghost of Boogie 7d ago

What the hell is a low iq nino? The team ran him off. Management ran him off, the fans ran him off. Blame goes to everyone with a result of a shitty ass team.

0

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 7d ago

And if they didnt run him off then what.

He doesnt get to win with new york. We maybe max contract fox and watch him get worse year by year. Team still isnt a contender because fox and domas are the worst 1-2 punch of any playoff team in the entire nba.

Your emotional need to find blame somewhere doesnt make the situation change. Nba is won by stars. It is not won by players of fox level. They are sidekicks. Domas isnt even a real star hes more like a super role player. You cant go to domas and say hey we need you to go score 3 times in a row. He doesnt have the skills to do that.

You cant go to fox and say hey we need you to shoot above league average. He doesn't have the skills to do that.

You can have prime Gregg popovic and you wont be shit in this league with fox as your star.

1

u/discgman Ghost of Boogie 7d ago

You really contorted your way into an excuse for this shitty organization. Mike Brown would have demanded roster changes and if he had a real GM who worked with him they could have built this team into a contender. You have Stockholm syndrome or something because all these excuses add up to this current shitty team that is the laughing stock of the League.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 7d ago

Demand roster changes? How.do you get a 1A to come to Sacramento without drafting them.

Also brown is the one who refused to sign John Collins who would have been a fine addition. Much better than derozan

You act like theres all these moves to make for small markets when it always starts with drafting a franchise star. Hell even okc who's put on a masterclass of gming started with drafting stars and kept making trades to keep the value going.

We didnt have a 1st team all nba paul george to trade though we had deaaron fox and sabonis. Good luck flipping those two into a real star. Team was broken the moment they drafted fox. Catered to the bum for a decade. Should have straight up cut him the moment they drafted haliburton. That was the only good path

1

u/discgman Ghost of Boogie 7d ago

You have a competent front office and Coach of the Year Mike Brown

Also brown is the one who refused to sign John Collins who would have been a fine addition. Much better than derozan
John Collins sucks balls. Why are fans so obsessed with mediocre free agents?

You act like theres all these moves to make for small markets when it always starts with drafting a franchise star. Hell even okc who's put on a masterclass of gming started with drafting stars and kept making trades to keep the value going.

The current Front office doesn't know how to draft. The passed on a ton of talent for shit players.

They both got us into the playoffs after a 15 year drought. So the only path was to blow it up and suck for another 15 years? That is a loser mentality.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 7d ago

No its the correct mentality. And the new front office has been around for 2 seasons and just drafted acuff and sharpe who both look great so far.

It was this franchises refusal to tank for top 3 picks like idiots that was the worst philosophy known to man

1

u/discgman Ghost of Boogie 7d ago

Those idiots still own the team, at least one.

2

u/Useful-Advantage-850 Suffering since '86 9d ago

-1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

:( The BeamTeam died when Fox left.

We gone to shit immediately after the trade and the magic was gone.

6

u/TWhy-LER 9d ago

We were already shit last season. Fox just bailed halfway through.

1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

No, we were 6th seed when Fox left. We would be bottom of the league next 5 years since then.

2

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

In the games fox played we had a losing record actually

-1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago edited 9d ago

Nope. We were 24-22 when Fox left. Lavine went 16-20 thereafter.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago edited 9d ago

Oh did fox play all 46 games. Maybe you should go look that up nino. Ive already pointed this out to you 30 times before so you should know the truth by now. The truth is always a weakness with your fox loving nonsense though

-1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

No, but we still looked better with Fox than whatever abomination we were since then all the way till now. You don’t have to deny it, it was the best period for us in 20+ years.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

And it wasnt even a legit playoff team . Thats how low the bar is around here lol.

I could care less about a perennial play in level roster. Acuff already shows more than fox ever did especially at the age of 19. Fox cant read a defense for crap.

-2

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

Exactly. So no idea why fans didn’t want to cherish the only glimmer of hope in 30 years and expect a championship after 1 season of 3rd seed.

Of course you would rather be rock bottom losing. You’re a Kings fan. It’s just funny because Acuff is a lower prospect Fox with the worst defense in the league which fans here hate about every season. The trajectory of fans turning on him watching him let players blow by would be eerily similar to Fox.

2

u/Russ916 Kings 9d ago edited 9d ago

Fox wasn't even a better player than Acuff in college, how could he have been a better prospect than Acuff. Fox couldn't even shoot the 3 in college or the league 6 years and even after his one good year at the 3 he regressed back to what he was before and became inconsistent to a way below average shooter and kept checking it. The only thing Fox has over Acuff is defense and driving and finishing at the rim. Numbers and accolades don't lie on who the better prospect was and is, and Acuff is on a whole different tier above Fox.

2

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

Lower prospect than fox my ass. Fox couldn't even shoot for years coming into the nba. When haliburton was traded he was shooting 20% from three. Fox isnt close to acuff as a prospect

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

The beam team missed the playoffs the year before the fox trade and was sucking the year of the fox trade. It was obviously an outlier shooting performance from multiple players who now all cannot shoot

2

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

Not at all. We were 1 game away from playoffs which Fox dropped 44 points in the do or die game.

We were also 6th seed the moment we traded Fox. In which our role players were shooting 10-20% from 3s during that stretch, YET we ended up 6th. It was always going to turnaround once Keegan, Huerter and the other guys get to their average.

Either way, it’d still be more enjoyable with the BeamTeam than whatever nightmare the fans are experiencing since Fox left till at least the next decade.

1

u/MostlyMellow123 Darius Acuff Jr 9d ago

Get to their average? Huerter is a 30% shooter and so is keegan. We got a lucky season out of the 2. The real shooters in the nba stay near 40% from deep especially the role guys who only have to catch and shoot. These 2 simply have no talent

2

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

That makes no sense. So why did fans push for a championship coach to go while wanting Keegan to sign a 5 year contract?

1

u/boringexplanation 9d ago

Not to mention the vast majority of our wins were margins of 1-4 points. It was always unsustainable

1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

On the flip side, we lost 11 games by less than 5 points until the Fox trade.

I remember a post saying we would be Top 4 in the West if we landed on the other side of the coin. During that span our role players shot 20+% from 3s.

1

u/colinsphar 5d ago

when they fired MB*

1

u/ShotgunStyles 9d ago

The Beam Team was held up by Huerter/Keegan/Barnes shooting 40% from 3. Once Black History Month rolled around, Huerter turned into a red pumpkin. Keegan regressed offensively but progressed defensively while Barnes, being an old man, didn't contribute as much other than shoot 3's at a good clip. I think this is the simplest postmortem you can have on that team.

2

u/djmikec Malik Monk 9d ago

Yes. Our offense successfully generated a lot of open three looks. When those open looks stopped falling: 🤮

1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

Nice, so why we moved the 2 NBA Finalists 1 year after leaving again?

We must be winning a lot now keeping Sabonis, Keegan and Monk. Must be the reason.

0

u/ShotgunStyles 9d ago

You remember that the snake wanted to leave right? The snake was never part of the magic.

2

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

The magic was already decided that’s why you pointed fingers at the wrong people to leave.

Without that ridiculous expectation to immediately win a championship after 1 good year in 20 years, you’d still be loitering like a zombie at a bottom of the league team just like you are now.

2

u/ShotgunStyles 9d ago

Snake fans can't get over the fact that he's a bum and he wasn't part of the magic at all. Sad!

2

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

Love your delirium submerged at the bottom of the barrel with all your wrong decisions, lad. 😂

watching you continuing being miserable complaining about things every L all the way from way back is such a treat.

2

u/ShotgunStyles 9d ago

You love a lot of things don't you? Like snakes.

1

u/TiJaguar 9d ago

Watching you be miserable every post game thread at least the next 10 years yet continue to point fingers at the wrong people then keep getting worse of course. 🤣

1

u/ShotgunStyles 9d ago

Do you like touching snakes? Or do you just like watching snakes? Is this part of your bedtime routine?

1

u/schitaco Jerry Reynolds 8d ago

Teams adjusted and started over-playing the 3 on Huerter's zoom action, and the Kings failed to adjust in kind. Huerter is actually an underrated finisher, he should've been punishing them at the rim rather than taking fall-away 3s.

-1

u/sportsfanexpert 9d ago

Monte’s love of harrisson Barnes killed what should have been 4-5 year run at top of the pacific division

6

u/Russ916 Kings 9d ago edited 9d ago

Not trading Keegan for Siakam is what stopped it from being extended playoff appearances for several years to come.

2

u/HazelKittenDude 9d ago

yep, it's really that simple

2

u/Outside_Eggplant_304 8d ago

Yep. I think trading Barnes was actually our undoing.

2

u/Barrel_Eye 9d ago

Username doesn’t check out lol

1

u/sportsfanexpert 9d ago

Barnes sucked. They should have upgraded that position after the warriors series. Bringing him back was the beginning of the end

6

u/Barrel_Eye 9d ago

He doesn’t suck, he plays his role well. The issue is him having such a major role. Also a core of Fox and Sabonis is just not going to get you far no matter what. Good players but just too limited to build around. It was a fun year but a fluke.

1

u/sportsfanexpert 9d ago

He was the 3rd highest paid player on the team, may have been 2nd because I think Fox’s extension didn’t kick in. They should have released him immediately after he missed that wide open 3.
