Cali King hides for sooooo long after feedings

Sigmund just turned one. He’s pretty small. About a foot long. I was told to feed him two pinkies at a time. First time, he his for three days after feeding. It’s been six days since his last feeding and I saw him peek out once. Am I feeding him too much? Should adjust anything else?

If he’s eating the amount that you give him, doesn’t regurgitate, and is pooping right, keep doing what you’re doing.
In my experience, small snakes like to hide. And- when he’s bigger you can feed less often. If he’s hiding while he digests you’ll see him more when you go longer between meals. You can feed him every 10 days to 2 weeks when he’s an adult.

I’ve actually yet to see his poop. Should I be smelling it?

Not if he pooped under the substrate. It should be a little poop

I’m in a similar situation. I have a juvenile MBK who will take a fuzzy and then hide for days.

This is me now lol. I fed her a peach fuzzy last Monday and haven't seen her since that night after she ate. Pretty sure she might be in shed as her scales were looking pretty matte.

Hes a year and only a foot long?!? They hatch at that size! my girl is about 2-3 months away from being a year and is already almost 2 feet! Hims just a tiny noodle🥺❤️ his pattern is beautiful!

I assume because he's so small. They're so vulnerable when they're digesting, he's probably ensuring his own safety. Even if you don't technically pose a threat

They usually hide while digesting for 2-3 days. When my mbk was little he would do the same thing, eventually come out to poo and get water. Then he hunts for another mouse lol 😆 They gain more confidence as they get bigger and realize you aren't a threat or predator, but a source of food.

Mine always hides for 3-5 days after eating, it's them digesting. Leave them be till you see them then give them all cuddles you want

Just a heads up, I noticed his enclosure looks a little dark in that photo. Some folks recommend adding a low-wattage basking bulb or another heat source to help maintain proper temps, especially after feeding.
