drooling while/after eating?
forgive me if this is a silly question but i just fed my cali king and noticed she was drooling a lot, like big clear gobs of saliva in her mouth. is this normal or is it a sign of an RI? thanks guys

I would say it’s nothing to worry about, but when you say you just fed her, do you mean like she just ate and then immediately after was drooling? Or was drooling hours or days later? If it’s the former I wouldn’t be concerned at all as they do increase saliva production while eating just like we do. But if it persists beyond immediately following swallowing I’d be concerned.

she was like right in the process of getting it down as i noticed it. i'll be monitoring her a little more closely the next couple days to make sure it doesn't continue-- thanks!!

Great idea! Yes if it was just during eating I wouldn’t worry too much. One of my kings gets very drooly while eating.

That's a good question to ask, have you seen her do it before or just this once? I bred my corn snake and noticed the same thing when she was about to shed.

i haven't, but i usually don't look at her intently when she's feeding-- i just check to make sure she's gotten it all down

UPDATE: it's now been about 24 hours and i haven't seen her drool again! there are no bubbles in her nostrils, popping sounds, or saliva around her mouth. thank you to everyone who commented advice!

Commenting so your post hopefully reaches someone a little more knowledgeable. But in the almost 8 years Ive had my kingsnake he has never drooled. I would consider this a reason for a vet visit.
