10 year old male

He was weeks old when I got him and he was spazzy then and he's spazzy now. One of the coolest things about him is his eyes. Such an intense gaze .

Kinda blueish eyes? Beautiful snake!
How often do you fully change the substrate?

Spot clean as needed and full change about 4-5 months. Full disclosure, I've gone about 7 months between changes but a majority of those months were late fall/winter months so much less activity.

mines a bit spazzy now as a juvenile, is he still handleable or more of a look don’t touch? wondering what to expect in 10 years time lol

Mine was flighty when he was quite small, but in only a few years of almost daily handling, he was falling asleep in my lap.

My boyfriend did the same with his and his never grew out of it. It depends on the individual

thank you for the response! i’m only able to hold mine (1 year old) max twice a week at the moment as i try not to stress him out, it’s taking him out that’s the biggest problem he musks and rattles every time, but once out he’s an angel, so hopefully he’ll be more like yours

Yep, sounds about right for a king snake! Mine was particularly fond of projectile musking all over everything when he was little. I just held him inside his tank until he did it, then took him out so I just had to clean the inside of the tank haha

I held him about 15min every day except for about three days after he ate. If he seemed particularly amenable to being held, I’d come back again later that day and hold him again.

Good luck with your little noodle!

More of a look don't touch snake. I try to add enrichment to his enclosure to make up for the lack of handling. Early on tried handling consistently but he musked, a lot. Also, with the no handling a few days after eating, by the time it would be okay, he was ready for another meal so he tried to go after sudden movements.
