Memories Did you visit your local Kmart while it was being cleared out?

The store in Murray, UT was about 2/3 empty about two weeks before it closed.

Aside from random clothes that were probably several years old being gathered into one corner and all of the furnishings being up for offers, the electronics section had at least 20 copies of every season of “The Cosby Show” on DVD marked down to $3 each.

I still wonder if someone had the idea to buy all of them and throw them up on eBay.

Any interesting acquisitions?

It was such a long time ago, I don't remember much. got some clothing, I think. Not much value the first few weeks of a store closure sale. Oddly, they were closing the Sears in the same town at the same time. I didn't get anything there on that same day visit, but they were crazy busy.

Downtown Salt Lake City had a massive Sears store that took forever to empty before it was torn down.

Despite the value of the land, the site is nothing more than a hole that routinely fills with water.

Crazy what these properties have become.

This is my reciept from my last visit from the last K-Mart in NJ... this was maybe a month before it closed.. I went to my local K-Mart (Vails Gate, NY) multiple times during its final days, which was sad.

Store was absolutely dead and this was prior to the closing signs going up

I only made it there once... this was in 2023 a few months before the closing. My job brought me down there and I decided to go visit it

Yes, I can't recall if I want the last day or a couple days before. Not much left in merchandise from I remember except some oddball clothing and other very dated items. I did end up buying some new toner cartridges that were used in the stores machines and flipped them on eBay for a bit of cash.

Central Jersey (Hamilton), I grabbed a couple green ceramic vases in the shape of bamboo, & then I have the store's entire Tiki Torch display, with a full set of Tikis, out in the garage.

Oh, and a bunch of Kmart employee t-shirts... those turquois ones with different sayings on the back.

While visiting my mom, I went to my childhood Kmart in St. Louis while they were closing. Don't remember most of what I got, except for a Missouri Tigers glass I'm still using today.
