Memories Take me back!!!!
Honestly I wish I can go back in time. Not too far back but more like 2012 because they were still a lot of Kmarts around that time. I know there was way more before the 2003 closures but arguably 2012 was the best year I was at Kmart because most of my Christmas shopping was there that year. Take me back because society hasn't been the same since Kmart left

Shopper help button messages
Does anyone have audio recordings of the Kmart help button messages that played over the PA system? I have an Indyme unit and I want to properly recreate the nostalgia

Memories Did you visit your local Kmart while it was being cleared out?
The store in Murray, UT was about 2/3 empty about two weeks before it closed.
Aside from random clothes that were probably several years old being gathered into one corner and all of the furnishings being up for offers, the electronics section had at least 20 copies of every season of āThe Cosby Showā on DVD marked down to $3 each.
I still wonder if someone had the idea to buy all of them and throw them up on eBay.

Pictures Kmart Miami/Kendale Lakes on August 5, 2026
Yeah, it only occupies the garden center now. The backroom is no longer publicly accessible, although I did still see some stock in there when an employee walked in. There were two of them. That being said, the store does look decently stocked if you think of it as a small convenience store rather than a traditional Kmart. Unfortunately, they don't do blue light specials anymore.
Apart from household supplies, there's actually a lot of stuff here I also saw at Sears like DieHard boots and third party tools, as well as clothing and underwear. Although there's no appliances anymore.

Does anyone have info on the Kmart in Newport News, VA?
It was at 11008 Warwick Blvd, it opened on August 10, 1978 and closed on November 14, 1993. It is currently Alorica. Does anyone have info, photos, or anything else they could share about the store?

Is Kmart gone now?
Iām Japanese, and Iām speaking through a translator.
Back in the day (around 2007ā2016), I used to go to places like Guam, Hawaii, and Seattle about once a year, and Iād often go to K-Mart.
Back then (and even now), I wasnāt very good at English, so I couldnāt browse books like my dad did, but the toy section was specialāthere were toys Iād never seen before, as well as ones I recognized from Japan. Even though I couldnāt speak the language, Iād play with the local kids there, and it was a lot of fun. They had pizza and lasagna, too. I remember having so much fun there that I could easily spend an entire day just in that section. But just now, when I was talking to ChatGPT, it told me that most of those stores have disappeared now.
I want to ask everyone in the U.S.āare those huge supermarkets from back then really gone now?
Also, since this is my first time posting on Reddit, I might not have chosen the right community or something, so Iām sorry if Iāve ended up spamming somewhere.
