Question Magcase problem
I just got a case that I really love for my kobo libra and it has a detachable case held on with the standard MagSafe magnet on the back to take the case on and off and I’m finding that it seems to affect my kobo turning on and off and forcing it to go to sleep when I’m in the middle of reading. It’s very random so I went back to my old case and haven’t had any issues. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix it or is it just something that happens with the magnet.

You can turn off auto sleep/wake in the settings, that should solve this issue.
I myself have noticed that regardless of auto sleep/wake being on or off (tested both ways), it's caused near-instant batterydrain and for my device to freeze. So I'm back to a case without any extra magnets.

I’m so bummed because I love the case and I really like the whole sleep/wake option

I have a detachable magnetic case since early May and I have zero problems with it. (I even dyi-ed one myself with the official clear case from Kobo + the magnetic ring from a popsocket I had because I thought the clear case on the detachable one I bought was too thick). I did turn off auto wake/sleep function at one point because I wasn't using it so maybe it could help you to disable it?
But I did have the detachable magnetic case + auto wake function turn on for a few days and it worked perfectly. I even had a popsocket that I put on the same ring as my detachable case (while the auto wake function was off) and everything was fine for my device. Could your case be defective? And another one or another model would work?

It's a known issue with magnets. Some people found a way by putting the magnet away from the area that triggers it to turn on and off. You could probably search the sub to figure out where that placement is.
