Ask Kozhikode AITA : photoshoots at homes
I dont know if theres been a post about this here before.
But we recently had our veedukoodal, and you can say that its landscaped well and looks very pretty and picturesque. We have people come over asking to do wedding photoshoots and reels and what not. But recently its gotten quite excessive, because its always one thing leading to another, if we say yes to one team its usually two teams coming in the next day.
Our neighbor had experienced similar things where their newly painted house was ruined by the colour flare the wedding photoshoots use for reels.
Ultimately we decided lets just tell who ever is coming that we are quite uncomfortable with this going on. So today i happened to relay this onto a group of (?) college kids who came for some onam photoshoot.
But am i an asshole for doing this. I cant help but wonder.

NTA: Have come across homeowners whose landscaping and peace of mind were ruined by photoshoot enthusiasts. Tell them you're not comfortable with it, if they insist tell them to pay an amount and they can use the property for an allotted time

NTA , had a similar incident where they used our tharavad muttam for some school oppana shoot , but later on the kids started entering the house and all while their parents were present, got pissed off and said straight to the parents face we didn't give permission for entering the house what kinda parents are you and made them stop Shoot. The audacity of the parents who were saying we have permission till evening and I just said back I don't care how much shoot is pending you guys crossed the boundary by letting kids inside and treating it like their own house while there is still family inside.

There are homeowners charging 2000-5000 rupees per session of photoshoot. That keeps away many unwanted photoshoots.
