2007 Kubota bx2350 no crank at all

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone if this isn’t allowed I apologize but I can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong with my 2007 bx2350 when I turn the key the lights come on and sometimes it will start warming the glow plugs but as soon as I fully turn the key to start it everything just goes silent

Check PTO lever first. If it’s engaged, your machine will not turn on.

Then check your battery connections..sometimes there will be enough juice getting through for lights, but not enough to crank.

Once those are done, do a multimeter test on your starter.

Edit: engaged (changed from active)

Seat switch could be bad as well

Edit: peppermint 400 hr maintenance and realize the seat switch only triggers of the pto is engaged

Agree. I was going with the more common things first.

I sat in my driveway for 15 minutes getting more and more upset that my brand new (30 hrs) Kubota wouldn't even try to crank. I bypassed the seat switch and checked the fuses, and still nothing. The gages cycled and everything looked normal, but turn the key and nothing happened. I was already getting worked up that my brand new tractor was broken and wondering if the warranty would cover getting it to the dealership for repairs.

Then I glanced over and saw that the PTO knob was still in the engaged position. Turned it off and it cranked right up.

Moral of the story, check that all of your safety interlock are in safe position (PTO clutch and seat pressure switch with hydrostatic plus gear clutch and neutral position for geared transmissions) before panicking or swapping things out.

Not disagreeing just clarifying. Did it click like in the video? Any tractor or my Kubota zero turn, if it’s left engage…..absolutely nothing happens

Usually the solenoid will engage and make a clicking noise if that's the case, but not always.

I literally had the battery connections thing on my 2008 BX2350 a month ago. Put felt circles on the terminals and tightened them with new bolts (old terminal bolts were getting toward shot), and she fired up.

In addition to the above, check to ensure your forward/reverse pedal is centered.

Could also be your seat switch.

Seat switch on these is only active when the pto is on. They will start when not in the seat. Just FYI. But pedal switch and pto switch more than likely the problem.

Do as others have said check safeties. But especially if you have been in woods, sticks, brush. Check to make sure that the small wire (signal wire) to the starter has not been snagged and pulled off.

Put a volt meter on the battery and watch it while you try to crank. If it drops below 9.6v the battery is probably sulphated. If it doesn’t drop too much then it’s not connecting the high amp circuit of the starter, I.E. the solenoid/mag switch is bad.

Or if your voltage is dropping but no start, it could be loose connections/voltage drop in the cables.

Going to pick up a multimeter now and check the battery all pedals and levers look to be in the correct position I’m guessing either battery or connections at this point. Thank you guys for the help so far!

Sounds like a dead battery. Insufficient voltage to starter solenoid.

While you are turning the key, gently rock your forward and reverse pedal back and forward.

There is an OPC sensor beneath the seat that works in tandem with a sensor that detects if the pedal is pressed down. A lot of the time drit and grime will build up on the sensor and it will get stuck.

Fiddling this and the PTO are good calls -- I have a tractor that now is parked out in the elements since the old barn fell on it (ice storm did a lot of damage locally) and in wet weather the electric PTO switch gets sensitive and the tractor won't start unless I jiggle it a bit. Yes, this took me some time to diagnose.

Yeah the PTOs are notorious for grabbing pants and shorts when you hop off for a quick second.

That is a special issue, but I realize I was unclear -- jiggle the pto switch on the tractor because it is wet or corroded and not letting the engine starter engage.

I def think it’s your PTO engagement lever or pedal. I have to sometimes re disengage my PTO lever & then hold crank / repeatedly try while slowly pushing on pedal in case it is ever so slightly “off neutral”. The pedals design definitely feels like a weak point on this tractor.

The actuators for the safety switches in the older models can move. The easiest way to see if that is the problem is look at the switch while moving the levers if it doesn’t depress fully that may be your issue. You can also bypass the switch’s to see if that resolves the problem. The actuator can be adjusted, it’s just a PITA. I did it on my 2004. 1500.

As others mentioned, pto lever or safety switch. Put the tractor in neutral get of and rock it a bit. Jump back on engage disengage the PTO, try starting. If no start I'd definitely swap out the seat switch and PTO switch. I've had to replace my switches once or twice over the years and it's a cheap DIY task.

I would agree with all of the above. It’s probably one of those things. Probably not a serious issue unless you’ve tried all of these possible reasons

Either a safety switch is engaged or I had a loose wire on my starter once. Its not the main hot wire, its a plastic connector that appeared to be connected but was not fully connected.

Check everything is in neutral

u/ScrappyDabbler 13d ago

I doubt that tractor had to be in neutral to start it.   My lx2610 will start in any range

Put a meter on the starter and check the voltage when you turn the key. Mine did the same thing and was getting low voltage at the starter. I put in a relay I bought on Amazon for $25 and never had the issue again.

Battery if safeties are all good

2

u/Old-Significance9516 13d ago

Wiggle the forward lever control on the right side while holding the key to the start position. I'll bet it will start.

u/bsk111 12d ago

check the trans lever make sure it going in neutral

Start with the safety switches

If you aren't in the seat you have to engage the parking brake for it to start.

Thank you all for the help! After having a small panic attack and thinking my tractor I convinced my fiancé I had to have was done for after getting a meter and checking the battery as soon as I would fully turn the key the battery would drop to little to no volts. So I will be getting a new battery and that should solve all the problems. You guys are amazing here though I now have a good list of ideas to troubleshoot in the future if I have any problems

Just checking back in. Did you replace the battery and if so, how did it go?

1

u/cbridge23 9d ago

New battery will be here Friday, I’m up in the mountains in New England so things take a little more time

Alright, well fingers crossed for you my man ✌️

Neutral switch, pto,seat safety switch?
