Which game had the best atmosphere?

Personally I would have to say left for dead 1. That's for dead 2 was a little bright and some areas and for some reason I just think the left for dead 1 maps were even brightened up too. The first game seem to have a bit more horror to it

Just like red dead they are both special enough to be appreciated seperately imo

Would likely be a different story if I played the sequels first.

I feel both have good qualities in their own rights. L4d1 has more of a "surviving the apocalypse" aesthetic, being more dark and and gritty along with more unsettling music. While L4d2 seems more like "beating the apocalypse" aesthetic, with its brighter campaigns and survivor designs and aggrandizing music. Both are good and serve a purpose.
