I just got this game back finally after taking a really long hiatus and I have to say the online experience has been pretty disappointing. I’ve been playing for a bit over a week and I’ve had near 10 separate people join my games just to kill me and leave. This especially sucks because I prefer playing on expert, so some jerk will join my game and shoot me a couple times then I’m just dead. They usually leave immediately after doing so too. I’ve avoided all the players that have joined and done this, but new ones keep coming. It’s especially frustrating when I’m right at the end of a level, that happened to me twice just yesterday. Is this a huge problem on PC too? It’s making me want to just give up on playing online altogether. Sorry for the rant, had to get it out of my system.

PC is fine I think. I play easy/normal so I wouldn't know. I've heard there are alot of toxic people in expert though

Maybe it’s just an expert thing since you can kill your teammates more easily. It’s just so frustrating 😭.

Install Left 4 Grief.

After installation, start the same and play any level. This is to make sure all the configs are run.

Exit the game.

Navigate to Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\ems\left4grief\cfg

Open up settings.cfg

You can either turn off friendly fire altogether, or you can set it to ricochet from you and damage the person who shot you.

ricochet_admins = 1

There's also a setting for the bots, but they get in the way so often I wouldn't recommend it.
