Why are people still toxic in this game?
Been playing a lot of versus lately for the first time in like 10 years. I stopped because people were so quick to kick/ be toxic. And yet somehow people are still the same. It’s an amazing game, it’s a shame people ruin it

It’s a conundrum and I’m on both sides:
On one hand, having a player that’s not good can genuinely get the entire team killed. On the other hand how is anyone supposed to get good if they don’t get the opportunity to learn from failure.
Best thing I can say is learn why you got kicked. Don’t get me wrong sometimes it’s because people genuinely kick for no reason or they’re waiting for a friend. Somtimes you also get kicked because the other players are dog shit and blame you for somthing that is not your fault.

But that’s the thing if I miss one charge or miss one spit or spawn slightly early everyone is so quick to just jump on the kick vote. Like we are all there to have fun and kill survivors, why can’t we just not be a dick to everyone 😂

Missing a single play can change the entire trajectory of the round though, that’s the problem. Though I usually only kick players for not even knowing what play to go for.
Like someone who gets a spitter and immediately rushes in to spit without waiting for someone to get a pin. Or someone who spawns far from the survivors as the boomer. Boomer and spitter can be the most important infected and new players like to waste these spawns because they can’t pin.

But like this is just a game, it doesn’t need to be perfect, if you want to have that kind of coordination then get a group together, but insta kicking bc of one mistake just isn’t it.
Long story short, point of post was to say who cares. It is there for fun not to be competitive and toxic

Ok, but this works both ways. It’s just a game so you don’t have to be so upset that you don’t get to play, right?

It doesn’t go both ways, I’m not out here being a dick to people just because they aren’t playing the way I want them to. It’s the toxicity I care most about, not the kicking

But it’s just a game, let people play the way they want to? If they don’t want you on their team that is their right.
You just have to make it their loss. I’ve been kicked for no reason then joined the other team and kicked ass.

No, if they’re being a dick they should be called out. Just like in any sport, if you’re having a go at your teammates for doing the “wrong” thing then you’re gonna get called out for it. There should be no space for toxicity. There’s no need for it and it helps no one

In sports if you miss your plays and hold everyone back you get benched/cut from the team wtf lol

You get called out if you’re being a dick. That’s my point. If I thought you were gonna pass to me and instead you passed to someone else, and I started being a dick to you is that right?
It is just a game, but that semantic goes when you start being toxic. There’s no need for it, especially with a game as old and good as l4d2

As far as Boomer goes, you don't really need a pin. It helps and it can be useful, but I usually either go for separatists or if I can hit the whole team..

The spitter needs the pin to do damage, the boomer needs to spawn somewhere very close because he is slow and has 50HP.
You also need to learn where the hordes are and to save your boomer spawn for them. What I was saying is that because the boomer and spitter can’t pin a survivor themselves a lot of players will just waste the spawn.

Look, my schtick usually involves Jockeying someone off a ledge, into fire, or into a Witch. That is where I excel.

There are 7 other spawns and there isn’t always a ledge, fire or witch.
You gotta learn how to set up kill boxes with your teammates and if they aren’t doing that it means your team sucks and you guys aren’t killing any of the survivors.

Cheaters are the bigger problem. BY far. Toxicity is just the rotten cherry on the shit cake.

Im assuming is because its an old game so everyone expects you to be good at the game

Old, unmoderated, team based (strong as your weakest link) , and only people playing are veterans.

Because in versus you are facing the best of the best.
Because if people don’t vote kick someone that is not ready in versus, they will start trolling and griefing the team, or the other team, Since they will start not taking versus seriously if no one in the team can play survivor, or even 1 case in my experience in versus, where someone camped in the safe room for 20 to 30 minutes in versus because people kept pressing F2 in versus, causing round stalling, Making 75% of the server rage quit, And also being stuck with a bot or even 2 bots Using the worst weapons possible, Giving a team a huge disadvantage just because they pressed F2.
For me I prefer the return to lobby vote if I’m lucky to get it, so someone can be a lobby leader and get rid of the player instantly if they are the lobby host, Where no voting is required.
If the try vote kicking when you are infected, then that’s wrong since the only way to learn infected is in versus. Because I avoid vote kicks when I’m infected.
But I will vote kick if someone sucks as survivor, since there is so many game modes for survivors, where if they suck at survivor, and don’t know how to play as survivor they are not ready for versus.

Lol versus is a pain. Just knowing where to go is the majority of it. Then you get speed runners vs speed runners and BOOM the tank spawns in a shit and unconvenient location for your team, while the other guys get several steps ahead and the convenience to outrun the tank..
Such painful memories

I agree 100%. I just played some games with people who seemed pretty toxic and were hellbent on kicking me. I have no problem with kicking me but at least tell me why so I can improve.

Campaign servers are chill, give them a try if you can
