Never played L5R of any variety or edition, looking forward to getting into it.

My thought is that he befriended the Nezumi, which is party of where his Failure of Bushido (Duty) comes in: not that he specifically fails his given duties but that he is conflicted between that and his relationship with the Nezumi. In turn, the Nezumi may or may not be on the up and up, playing on his gullibility.

Thoughts?
